Why are Susan’s beans all pink but Thor’s multicoloured?

A question for the ages I feel.

(We did pebble painting at work. I drew a chick for Mrs T as in I was her penguin giving her a pebble. Unfortunately it looked so tit she thought it was a heart and the point was lost. Pebble painting is still great though.)
That's a cute pebble story 💕 🐥

Re toebeans, Pooh's were all black.
Thor's are like a 4 bean mix.
I must say Susan has the funnest beans to squish. Someone on the Share My Cat thread said they look like Percy Pigs. I googled and yes, yes they do.

Dressmaking and sewing have a reputation of being all kindly aunties and pretty fabrics, but there's a fair bit of edge weaponry and violence involved as well. Weaving is the same.

yes, and if you do anything involving snaps or press-studs, sooner or later you have to get the hammer out. I'm currently sewing a dress so there's no violence involved.

It must feel so GREAT to wear something you've made. Could you send a pic of the pattern?

I have made a few things: in my teens. Wonky shorts and a drop waist dress. But to make PROPER clothes, what an amazing art and craft

It's simplicity 8292, view B with the full skirt, in silk.

I love sewing, and now I have a usable sewing area in my home office, I can have my latest project out all the time rather than having to set everything up and break it down again every time.

Thanks for showing. It's beautiful. I remember when you first set up your sewing space. What a relief that must be

It's made such a difference. And most of it was stuff I already had, the only things I bought were an IKEA drawer unit and a matching cupboard to replace the trestle legs of my sewing table, and some hanging jumper storage to go in the wardrobe and store fabric in. My Christmas gift from my partner was a really fancy sewing lamp with a daylight bulb and magnifier. Patterns are stored in the bookcase I already had, and the table is positioned so that I can walk all around it easily, which makes cutting patterns out much easier.

I was mithering about buying a little side table for drinks so it was still in reach but out of danger of being knocked over, and then I gave myself a talking to and decided that using a water bottle would work just as well.

Edit: I realise I am really lucky, I own a two-bedroom flat I don't have to share with anyone else, so I can do this. I'm a member of a sewing forum and one of the busiest threads is the one about "how do you sew if you don't have a dedicated space?" and a lot of the time it turns out that the rest of the family have a shed, the attic, the games room etc for their hobbies, but the sewist has to make do with a corner of the kitchen table and the associated huffing from the rest of the family.

I haven’t been outside today or yesterday or the day before. I’m making myself go to the sunbed as I felt better for a couple of days after.
it is littlest’s birthday today. We just had party food just the four of us. No friends and no family. Littlest is happy enough but I feel sad. Big kid is away and the only other family member who would’ve come is in hospital really ill.

I really hope Xmas makes up for it. I’m gonna put a swing in big kids room, that’s the present for both littles. It’s been really hard trying to plan for Xmas with no UC, I got the swing frame on Amazon (which I really didn’t want to but it let me pay in 5) and I got one of those parachute material hanging things like a hammock. I hope they love it. I wouldn’t dare try and hang anything from the ceiling in this house so it had to be a frame.

Sunpat smooth is a life long habit with me. When I was 18 but still an apprentice my mum still made me 2 sandwich and a strawberry ribena lunch.
For weeks I gave it to a very young rough sleeper.
One day she said " I appreciate what you've given me, but any chance of a change"
We were both laughing.
I’m a fan of sunpat smooth too, in the rare months I eat peanut butter. I’ve tried skippy and I didn’t care for that one at all! Big little eats pip and something (can’t remember the name) by the huge tubful, littlest won’t touch it.
Your mums kindness still did good in the end so I call it a win
