I can't remember when the big hurricane that hit us was. I think 87. I'm getting up, ready for school.
News is showing destruction to the whole of the UK.
Sevenoaks became one oak. The whole country was in shock.
My mum, you can still go to school
I walked up the road over bits of roofs, trees and telegraph poles. Actually got the bus 3 miles to school . Then traversed the same walk to my battered school. Sat in the canteen for 4 hours then sent home. Thanks mum, rip .

I've got die hard and then con air on film 4 tonight(good films). Is film 4 regional?
Oh it’s on channel 4

Frausy-wausy’s can I ask a question of you who are competent in altering/sewinng etc?
I bought some leather trousers online; I’m very sorry to say it but they are butter soft.
they’re also unhemmed which I assume means they can be altered to any length. They’d currently only be suitable for someone in the top end of 6fts, which I am not.
The lining in them is roughly ankle length on me which is good. My questions:

is it simply a case of me carefully cutting them to the length I need and leaving them unhemmed? Are they going to curl up a bit at the bottom if I do that? If so, I might need to make them slightly longer to allow for that.
Or: do I take them somewhere to be hemmed to where I need them to sit?

I’m in the North East. It’s windy but not too bad, there’s been a few trees and decorations down but we’ve been lucky.
It’s upset new cat though who was unsettled and naughty all afternoon. He’s finally passed out though.
I’m worried about the trees behind the house (one of the reasons we are trying to move). We’re on the side of a hill so it’s pretty hairy rn. It’s definitely not as bad as Arwen though.

Rish neighbour put some massive wreath on the outside of their front window earlier today. The lights that were on it are now writhing around on the drive and it definitely won’t last the night. WFK why they decided today was the day to put it out.

Ok two eyes. Might need a few more details.

Yo! Sophie needs an alarm fitted at her house in Rochester and has asked if you could fit it! Said would pick you up and drop back ?

People always do this. Oh mchops does stuff, I'll chuck him under a bus . Please don't do this to your friends.

I wouldn’t even attempt!
there are lots of alteration people about but in the South end. I think there’s an alteration/dressmaker in the Baltic somewhere.

I like sewing and I'm fairly competent with it, but for something as investmenty as leather trousers I'd outsource the hemming. My machine always seems to have a hiccup and let me down on the spendiest fabric. I think you need a special leather needle as well, now I think about it.
Ok, that’s good to know.
these were £16 including buyer protection and postage from Vinted. Brand new, with tags, honestly they are such beautiful leather. I’ll take your advice. There’s someone who does leather alterations in town, so I’ll go to her. She’s expensive but I don’t mind given how nice the trousers are. Thank you xx

Hotes, just seen your comment. I have a really good alterations lady round the corner from me who I use regularly but I don’t know if she’ll do leather and she’s only open Tues-Thurs and I’m in the office all week so can’t check.
The women I mentioned ^^ in my comment to Holllaaaaaa is just off Dale St, coincidentally on Leather Lane! I’ll try her as it’s on my way from the station to my office 🍉

I'd pay someone to do that for you. Leather needs a special needle, and you can't unpick if you make a mistake, so you need someone who knows what they're doing.

Back in the day Dale St was where the milners and dressmakers were, anyone still trading in that type of thing round there will know what they’re doing!

She is very good. I used her before for a suede shift dress that needed taking up and she done a beautiful job on it. She also made Mr Laz a belt and put his 1960s buckle on it. I hope she’s still there, I’ll check.

Got to turn her upside down.
This would have been a good meme in the early 2000s
She doesn’t look so shocked the other way round strangely
