To add some more context, this was only after they had started bottle feeding the twins and he was "now jointly responsible for feeding" ("the gravy train of unbroken sleep had been derailed and gone up in a ball of flames with no survivors" 🙄). He says they were sleeping in separate rooms, each with one twin.

Anyway, he goes on to say he went onto trying a "baby-milk cocktail bar" beside the bed which involved a flask of boiling water and a bottle of cold water but that didn't work because he spilt the boiling water. Then they got a bottle machine thing for the spare room where he was sleeping with one of the twins, and that was what finally worked.

No mention of what Clemmie was doing all the time he was engineering various "genius" (and potentially unsafe) solutions to try to make his life easier. Perhaps just getting on with things the recommended way?

I am so grateful for you taking the time to read his book BTW. I wouldn't have the patience so I appreciate you reading it for us 😂 🏅

I vaguely recall them bigging up the Tommee Tippee perfect prep machines at the time - can’t recall 100% but wouldn’t surprise me if it was an undeclared ad at the time. I know some parents swear by them but they are heavily marketed and not a necessary baby purchase, plus there were loads of issues with them going mouldy . To be fair that could have been resolved now but just an example of them both peddling high end baby purchases on new parents.

The NHS advice against them now! I had one with my daughter and she eas so unsettled/had a lot of gas issues. We make bottles up fresh for my son and he doesn't have any issues. Does make you think doesn't it. I've seen a few on my May 2022 group that have stopped using it and seen a huge improvement. (No judgement at all, I know its a life saver of a machine and can work fine for many babies) I'm amazed she recommended it as it doesn't mix boiling water with the formula to kill the bacteria. Good one Clemmie
