Yep, pretty sure it is.This morning while picking up my granddaughter, I saw a slimming world referral sign. This is for anyone with a BMI over 30, they could be referred to slimming world for 12 weeks. Does anyone here know about this. I hope this is not an NHS backed referral.
The NHS has its own weight referral program, it’s infuriating that public money is funding Mags and her yacht. It is creating another problem for the NHS in the future as we know the correlation between slimming world and eating disorders. Shocked to see that poster this morning.Yep, pretty sure it is.
I was discussing this with a friend the other day. And I was surprised to hear that in the referral info, it does state that Slimming world may not be suitable if you suffer from binge eating disorder are they finally getting the message?!The NHS has its own weight referral program, it’s infuriating that public money is funding Mags and her yacht. Recognising that it is not a one size fits all model is definitely a step in the right direction. It needs to be monitored because anyone can tick a box and pretend that they don't have an eating disorderOne of the first things it says when joining is if you suffer from this to speak to the consultant about it who I believe is to advise you go directly to your GP for advice.
I believe the NHS referral is subsidised by Slimming World and the plan is to roll it out to more regions in the near future.

I think the bigger issue is knowing whether you potentially fall in this category or not. I think most people, me included, just get on with life and are too worried to go and speak to the GP about something which you feel in your head should be something you shouldn't be doing.
I've personally found that unless you have an eating disorder and are under weight, they doctors don't give a crap
Even then it's a real battle to get any support. The guidelines are so old fashionedI've personally found that unless you have an eating disorder and are under weight, they doctors don't give a crap
See this is the theory in my head and one of the reasons I would never have seen the GP back when I was 28 stone. In my head the GP would've been of the James Smith mentality and said to eat at a calorie deficit. I went to the GP with backache at approx 25 stone and I was asked if I realised my weight may be a contributing factor and that was the end of the discussion
