The show was called A Song For Europe or Making Your Mind Up where there were a selection of different songs by different artists (about 6 - 8) and we, the viewers, got to vote for our favourite and it was that one that represented the UK. There was also ‘Your Country Needs You’ which Graham Norton presented. The BBC said originally they stopped doing a selection show because they didn’t have room for it in their schedules when they were showing The Voice, but then then they brought it back and put it on BBC4 for a few years before stopping again. It feels very authoritarian actually that we don’t get to choose our act, I’m assuming we are the only country that doesn’t get a choice.

Royal Blood has the Maneskin bassist on its stories just now playing along to I Only Lie When I Love You, and the Franz Ferdinand lead singer has them on his covering Take Me Out asking if they could get any cooler.

The fact that proven, successful musicians are talking about Maneskin in a serious ways says a lot. Not that they weren't proven themselves before that, but in the UK we seem to go for complete unknowns that would struggle at an open mic night.

The only good singers in Steps (in my opinion obviously!) are Claire and Faye. Lisa can’t hold a tune.

The last decent song we entered was ‘I can’ by Blue in 2011. A banging tune, I still listen to it 😁. We came 11th that year.

Yeah if you look closely the hands make it obvious he's not taking drugs. I'm not even sure why British people are bothered, we lost pretty conclusively to everyone, it doesn't make a difference to us if France are declared the winners!

That clip of Lisa Scott-Lee is hilarious, yes just like a mockumentary. "It's just behind Linkin Park"
 
I thought for a long time that Steps would have been great for Eurovision but I think that ship has sailed now. I also fancied Shayne Ward but that's because I just like looking at him 🤣

Listening to Spotify this morning and Leona Lewis popped up singing Collide. Something like that would be excellent.

I'm not sure why it's so hard. The music and songs in the Eurovision film were better than most of the acts on Saturday.

I've also noticed on iTunes chart James Newman is at 3 and Maneskin at 6.

The only reason I’d want Rita Ora would be in the hopes she get nil points and be so mortified that she never graced my tv screen or radio again.

As for who I’d like, I can’t think of a band who are around at the moment but someone like Ok Go could work. Quite fun but serious at the same time. I think they’d stage something brilliant by the looks of their music videos.
