Ok I am only just joining this thread, hi guys!!! I just came on to say (sorry if it’s been said already) but why the hell is Marlon being such an asshole to Rhona??? At the end of the day ivy is hers
I believe that from a legal perspective, Rhona has no claim on Ivy, which is why she doesn't want the police or SS involved. Ivy's biological origin is irrelevant, Lucy is the woman who gave birth to her, so legally, she is her mother, Gus will be regarded as her father, as he was married to Lucy, unless Lucy puts another man on the birth certificate (unlikely, as she's dead) Rhona will need to adopt her own biological offspring, because she didn't gestate her.
Talking of which, has Ivy's birth been registered? Has the health visitor seen her? When was she last weighed? (I work in women/child health, and I've been ranting at the telly all week, this story is so ridiculous!!)

Children’s social care wouldn’t be involved simply because ivy’s mother died. They don’t know how well supported / unsupported / struggling to cope her father is. I think the lack of a HV is glaring and they would be the ones to notice concerns and then subsequently report to CSC. But I don’t think it’s odd that they’re not involved as no one has reported he’s not coping / borderline if not neglectful.. obviously that is what Rhona and Mary are trying to protect him from by bringing him to the family home.

I don’t understand where they are going with the storyline
Is it ultimately blood is thicker than water that Rhona will choose Ivy over Marlon
Or is Marlon jealous does he really want social services involved and the baby removed and the deep hatred and resentment off Rhona that will bring
They always portray family as everything in soaps, sticking together, muddling through but maintaining the familial bonds no matter what
Wouldn’t you just sit the other children down and explain baby is there for a few weeks, all the rubbish about it upsetting Leo? What if Rhona had a baby and Leo was disturbed would they get rid of that one?
and what are the writers going to ultimately do let Rhona get attached then Gus comes back and takes the baby? It’s a very stupid storyline and makes me dislike Marlon a lot

( deep breaths it’s not real) 😂

I thought Marlon was trying to stop Rhona getting too involved too quickly in case Gus decides to move away with the baby altogether and tell Rhona he doesnt want her being involved.

I thought Marlon is trying to protect her in that, if she can't form a close bond with the baby it will be easier for her to cope when Gus cuts all ties.

Yeah I think Marlon is trying to protect her which you can't blame him for but it's also hard for Rhona as she specifically said she didn't want her embryos used and she obviously had an idea of how she would feel knowing her baby is out there but now she has been forced into this situation and its not her fault the way she is feeling. If Lucy survived and she had no contact with Ivy then she would probably still spend her life wondering and worrying about her

Yes Marlon is looking out for her in a way but constantly saying in an irritated voice “ when is gus going, shouldn’t Gus and the baby be going, we need to speak to social services” doesn’t help
And him cracking on that he’s worried Gus will commit suicide because he didn’t see the signs with paddy fools no one, he just doesn’t want that baby in his home

That my opinion anyway 😀
