Is she getting paid to do these, or trying to get the restaurants to give her free meals by tagging and promoting them? These descriptions have a very promotional vibe.

She may be TRYING to get a partnership, but I doubt that she actually has any.

I saw a description yesterday on "the influencer game". Basically in order to move up the ladder, users with less of a presence (see our dear Eleanor) will make posts for free and tag the resturant/bag company/makeup brand, etc. Done consistently enough, and with a good reputation, high number of followers, and jive between company and influencer, and you can see some partnerships being made or items being gifted.

I doubt this will happen with any high level companies that Elle is trying to hook. We've seen some of her partnerships before: small gifts from a skincare or makeup company right before Joe dumped her in Vancouver, thred-up or something similar during her time with Rick in Florida, and what else? I can't think of many There may be one other, but 1. Elle's character is not something that a luxury brand would want to hook their wagon to, 2. She doesn't have the number of followers that a big company would be looking for, and 3. She's got too much negative press surrounding her. She may catch a small fish here and there (I could see a $50 dinner gift card), but I don't see LV, etc partnering up with her.

I'm curious why she didn't keep up the sponsorships but I think the combination of having a sad Seattle life with few videos turned the companies off, while her mother clearly paying for all her expenses removed the incentive on her end.

I don't think the Instagram posts are paid for, they seem more "look at all the expensive places I can eat, peasants!" just to remind Joe/her haters/Karens/The Dolls that she is still living that Vancouver Club life.

Agreed, I don’t think the Instagram posts are sponsored. Elle is doing the fake it til you make it strategy.
I think in the US it was probably easier to get sponsorships being US based. I’m sure she didn’t bring in any high sales or anything hence the no repeat sponsorships. I’m sure other companies see this and with her irregular posting schedule probably doesn’t make it her an ideal partner.

Elle also has crap engagement (heh). One of the things companies look for in smaller influencers is high engagement with their audience, and Elle doesn't really have that.

Since she promoted certain Japan/Asian cuisine like hot pot, sushi, and katsu, Elle should broaden her horizons and visit Japan.

...but I know she won't.

Thank you for these other sponsors. I agree, I think most of Elle's posts these days are her idea of a flex. Though I wouldn't put it past her to try for a sponsorship again

I personally love Asian cultures and my trips to Japan were fantastic but you guys are crazy if you think Elle has any interest in becoming a more cultured person. I don’t even remember her ever taking a trip to France, Italy, or Belgium since she started the YouTube channel over ten years ago, and she regularly claims to be from those cultures. The only places she goes to are Hawaii, and wherever the man of the moment wants to go to.

Elle's lack of travel always baffled me. For someone with the financial means and independence, I don't understand how she is content to simply go to Hawaii every few months. I'd be bored with the same restaurants and beaches! At least Rick and Joe got her to visit another island for a few days without her mother.

But looking back at when Elle has travelled, it's quite sad how she behaves. She went to Palm Springs once for a friend's wedding and actually spent a day at the outlet mall. Can you imagine flying in for a weekend wedding and devoting a day to solo shipping? I'd much rather hang out at the resort with friends or explore the town a bit. But no, it was more important she get to the Helmut Lang outlet for suits and Chanel for discount shoes. She even made a comment about wanting more suitcases so she could get luxury sheets at Frette. I don't even know what a "luxury sheet" is, but that's besides the point.

It's quite sad that a 30-something woman has no interest in anything beyond shopping, her cats, and trying to find a husband.

In fact, for someone coming from a middle class background who claims to be so KuLtUrEd, she's not well-travelled at all. She's been to HK with mummy and Thailand with the English troll. Never went anywhere abroad with Joe. Might know US hick towns well, thanks to Rick and his dispersed family...

It’s just such poor manners. Even as a child I was taught to not chew loudly or smack my lips, and why would you tell people you’re having a luxe lunch? So tacky and completely tone deaf, especially given that she’s traveling for leisure during a global pandemic, dining out, and many people are struggling to pay bills.
