Great episode today but Pam's words are damaging
What did Pam say as I missed some of what she said?

Basically said Ben should be in the closest because it's better than dealing with homophobic people, and how it's not worth risking your lifeWhat did Pam say as I missed some of what she said?
I agree pam’s words are damaging but it’s realistic isn’t it. That’s how some of the older generation think, I think Eastenders are being realistic. Some older people have the stiff upper lip approach of doing what you need to do to avoid things and have an easy life (sorry if I’ve worded that badly)Basically said Ben should be in the closest because it's better than dealing with homophobic people, and how it's not worth risking your life
Agree - it went on too long and was all a bit preachy for my liking. That Ben and Callum stuff was tedious
And S ex education! The actor that played Tamwar has went on to have a very good career. He's in an American series I'm watching now called Station Eleven. I've also just realised that the program that was on bbc last night called Rules of the Game had one of the Shabnams in it
I think that has ruined Ballam too. They used to be all over each other and now Callum won't even sit next to Ben on the sofa! Have you noticed that some characters are allowed to get close (Mick and Raine were super close), but not others. Do you think it's a vaccine thing, or maybe it's just filming trickery?Agree - it went on too long and was all a bit preachy for my liking.
Should you be out and proud or not?
Surely that's for every individual to decide for themselves.
The best scenes in recent weeks have featured Aaron and his dad. I guess that's the last we'll see of Aaron and I'm sorry he's gone now. He was a good actor and injected a much needed bit of drama.
Much as I like Phil and Kat together it's becoming ridiculous seeing them supposedly in love but standing yards apart. It's just so unnatural that she wouldn't have given him a kiss after getting a nice present.
I think maybe it’s the way they film from different angles most of it is still socially distanced from what I have gathered, unless the actor and actress isolated to film the scene.I think that has ruined Ballam too. Surely they can sit together and touch! It's just crap now.I think maybe it’s the way they film from different angles most of it is still socially distanced from what I have gathered, unless the actor and actress isolated to film the scene.
I agree I guess they are still being careful. I mean especially stuff like emotional conversations, it’s just weird that they are all socially distanced.Surely they can sit together and touch! It's just crap now.
I'd rather they made less episodes, with more physical contact! For a while they were using the actor’s real life partners for love scenes. For example, Danny Dyer’s wife who pretty much looks like Ellllll anyway.
Ha yeah I noticed the scenes with Kat and Phil, Ben and Callum were sat way apart. It was like watching an awkward play by an amdram group at your local village hall.
It always is when they start moralising. Soaps need to understand 'show not tell.' Agree the Aaron storyline did it quite well.Agree - it went on too long and was all a bit preachy for my liking.
Totally agree. It's drama FFS which has been very lacking recently. The only story that was done well was Aaron and his hate group and that's mainly because the actor playing Aaron gave a great performance. It always is when they start moralising. You can put across a message about acceptance, anti-racism, anti-homophobia etc. with a well-written storyline and representation not just by putting words in characters' mouths to tell us how to think like with Callum last night. It's patronising and cringeworthy.
Nothing beats the episode where they were all sat round discussing rape-culture in the pub for clunky moralising though. Well, maybe the soap-crossover thing they did about climate change
Also why do we need so many hate crimes in one go. London life can be tough, but it's got more LGBTQ+ and different cultures than any other city in the entire UK. To have so much going on in one small area of East London is just stupid and frankly isn't most of EE's audience white middle-aged people anyway? Hardly true to life! East London is actually a really cool place to live these days, but perhaps Walford is more indicative of Essex with its mass organised criminal fraternity.Totally agree. We saw the homophobic attack with the thugs which would have been more effective with better writing and fallout.
We all know that Ben will most likely be back to his normal self next week and Callum seems to have brushed it off with no apparent injuries!
That's a very good point. I live in London in a very diverse community where everyone just gets on with life and minds their own business. Nobody cares if anyone is gay or about wherever your ancestors have come from round here. Also why do we need so many hate crimes in one go. Exactly, me too and I have a lot of gay male friends who have faced prejudice, but never in London! They all see it as their haven. Pisses me off how it is portrayed as some lawless tit hole. As a born and bread Londoner, to me it's one the most beautiful, cultural, diverse and tolerant places on earth! That's a very good point. It's far more likely that people would encounter prejudice in a non diverse community!
