And wouldn't he be related to one of her kids... didnt she have a kid with David wicks?
From memory, I think she had a child with Simon (Steven) but also shagged David. Dean is a Wicks because of his dad Kevin (although I think he turned out not to be his dad in the end). Kevin was married to Shirley and then Denise and I think Pat was his auntie?

How does one get a next of kin registered with the police, and do they just turn up in person at your house/family, or if you don’t have family do they go to your work ? Sorry if this triggers anyone 😢 what if you have a friend or neighbour can they be next of kin?

You can contact your hospital and register whoever you want as a next of kin. You may have to go in and complete some simple paperwork, but legally it can be anyone, you just have to get it into your records. Please don’t worry!

If you’re unconscious, like Jay is, obviously you can’t say who it is, in practice, the hospital would almost definitely have allowed Billy to see Jay, especially when a police officer has confirmed his identity

I don't have close

Idon't have close family so I suppose I could nominate a solicitor as my next of Kin.

Tonight’s EE episode is so emotive, and chaotic.

Yes that happened to a family friend of ours, we didn’t know she was in hospital and passed away, and only her solicitor knew when she was admitted as next of kin as she had no family (an only child). I found out her phone line was dead then googled her name and her death notice was in the newspaper. I rang the church then funeral home, then found the solicitor - who told me she died from leukaemia but had a year to live and changed her Will a few times, the solicitor made a point of saying that to me 🤔 and sold her house to give to charity 😔

Another best friend of mine was divorced from his wife, so had his sister’s son as next of kin. The nephew didn’t tell me when had passed away, but fortunately my friend already gave me his next of kin number just in case if his phone line was ever dead, which it did 😢 I found out his death notice in the newspaper months later and rang the nephew- who told me my friend died from dementia in his final months and he couldn’t speak 😢 the nephew was the executor and sorted his burial and inherited all, and he was already well off. He had to sort all his stuff but found my text messages and email, and said he always heard good things about me from his uncle 🥲
