Yep!! The only difference at the moment is where I sit. My job role is exactly the same. Its quieter at home as there is no back ground noise in the office. Our parking spaces are gone so we're now having to walk to use buses to get in as there as nowhere to park locally. People will just go off on the sick.
What a nightmare a lot of companies are moving toward at least part time work from home now. I think in the long run companies making people go to the office when they can do the job at home will lose out.

Don’t you get paid for the period you isolate if the app pings you? Some people probably love it!
I think it depends on the employer. I had to isolate in December, I had to email HR the NHS email confirming I had been in contact, i got paid for that.

They've been desperate to get us back. We went in last summer when the numbers dropped, every other office was still WFH. You're right though, its an old fashioned idea. I've already told my TL that if they can't provide me with parking then I'm leaving. I've got a 12 year old incontinent dog at home and I have to come home at lunchtime and let outside.

The experts aren’t happy

I’m really interested to here more from people like you. I understand your a children’s doctor but are you noticing things picking up again COVID wise in the hospital or would you say things are ok again for the moment?
Also have many colleagues got COVID more than once?
I have a lot of friends who are adult medics in London hospitals. I can only give their experience in London - cases are picking up, with younger people presenting more often. They’re seeing people in their 30s to 40s who are sick but don’t necessarily need admission for breathing support.

This is in stark contrast to the first two “waves”. I was moved to adult A&E and I often encountered people in their 50s-60s presenting pre-terminal, I mean if they weren’t given the breathing mask immediately, they would definitely die. The wards were horrendous. People dying left, right and dented. It was terrifying, I felt like I was in a real life horror movie.

So things are better now compared to the first two waves. Long covid is awful though.

I will continue to take every precaution I can because I cannot take the risk of suffering with long covid.

I only know of two colleagues who got covid twice but this has to be taken in the context of us being double vaccinated by late December…I really don’t know how much immunity we have now. A

Im not vaccinated and CEV I'm also in my 60s and look after three young children and I'm not scared. But then I don't watch the news or live TV I really do think it makes a difference. I have noticed those people I know who seem the most scared are those who watch a lot of TV for whatever reason.

Or those of us who have either lost loved ones to Covid or have seen people suffering from the horrendous after-effects of long Covid. I avoid mainstream media too. I'm not living my life in fear, but I'm also not in denial about what this beast of a virus can do either because I have eyes and ears and I have seen it for myself, in real life, not just on a screen.

I've lost three people two to suicide and one to the vaccine. others are now poorly after the vaccines ( devastating fatigue, eye problems, leukaemia, neurological problems ) and yet I still don't know anyone who had covid bad enough to see a Dr, I know it's real I have never said it isn't I'm giving my experience of people I know in the real world who are scared, ( I did say this in my post) no they haven't lost anyone to covid

Sorry for your losses.

Will they be adding our criminal record to the “vaccine passport”?

I can see them continuing very slowly with stuff bit by bit as they have for 16 months. Just 3 weeks to flatten the curve, just a mask etc. They make everything seem like it won't be for long or they gaslight the nation by going back on what they said like when Boris said it was irreversible or Zahawi said vaccine passports wouldn't be a thing. They will start out simply saying you are 'clean' to come in. Then once the big tech companies get in the heads of the government how they can all make millions it will expand to more like China have with a credit rating to ban you from doing things if you haven't been a model citizen.

so you're just speculating?

to give some perspective

i don't know anyone who has died from the vaccine and or anyone who was unwell enough to see a doctor

i know a lot of people who have died from covid or needed hospital admission

just think its good to give other viewpoints
