My friend posted this from his employer, wonder how many others are in similar situations

So.…...apparently the Gov't is now collecting mobile phone data from O2 phones to try and determine if social distancing is working. Apparently they can work out your mode of transport. This is not extended to other networks, and is "not designed to track you BB style"
Yeah seen that in the news last night 😬 I was on Instagram before bed and guess what one of the adverts was ?? 02 😬 very strange

People saying we aren't going into lock down because the government said so the other day when last week they told us schools wouldn't be closing and a week later they did. Surely now, you'd realise don't believe everything they say?
It’s not really a case of not believing anything they say. They’ve always explained that the monitor the situation and decide on a day to day basis. At that time they didn’t want to close schools, then as it progressed they decided it was the right time to now do it.

they’ve said all along they didn’t want to make the moves too soon.

we have nowhere near as many deaths from this as most of the other countries so I’d say for now we are obviously doing something right?

I don’t believe that they’ll achieve the level of under control they are looking for in the UK by telling everyone how mature we are and “advising” we stay home.

I already work from home so I’m already doing what France is doing, but the amount of people trying to find loopholes, let’s all go and drink in the park together or we’ll go to the supermarket multiple times a day is not going to work.

It doesn’t really get more serious than this, sorry to get dark but over 1 person an hour is dying from this everyday in the UK, the numbers are still moderate but this will change.

I think anyone who chooses to go against the social distancing advice (not people who have to go to work) should sign a waiver to say they’ll be further down the list if they need a ventilator.
Where did you get the stats one person an hour in the UK is dying from this? 🧐

Even if that is the case we most likely will have too at some point people are still believing that we won't go into lockdown ever that lots of places will remain open. Maybe some are just trying to believe that if it makes them worry less which I can understand, but I know lots of people have full intentions of hanging out down the park drinking or planning on going on to the a pub that is still open in three weeks for their mates birthday. I think for some people they are struggling to accept the situation we are in but for some it can actually be more benifical if you can "mentally prepare" yourself for what's to come so it isn't a shock. Although that isn't the case for everyone I understand that but I worry for people I know that are so in denial of the reality of the seriousness of this. From our first cases at the stage we are at compared to when the virus was in countries like Italy for the same amount of time we are close in numbers and expected to follow their patterns. Sorry I know this is worrying for us all I am just someone who feels it actually helps staying as informed at possible.

I agree with the first part of this - one day at a time - but I’m wary of saying our numbers mean much. Our death count is lower but so is our overall infection rate. Which is what they’ve been telling us - we are a few weeks behind Europe. Both numbers are going to go up considerably.

exactly I don't even bother listening to what they say about it as nothing can be trusted long term. they seem to have no idea what they're doing tbh. i don't get why they would rule out any possiblity at this stage

although here they're not testing people who don't go to hospital so our infection rate is probably a lot higher. i know 2 people who presume they have it neither who have been tested as they haven't needed to seek medical treatment

My friend suggested they don't want to announce lockdown to far in advance even though most likely they already have a date in mind just to not cause even more crazy panic buying at the shops. 🙄 I thought she could have a point x

Morning guys

my gut says that we’ll likely follow suit of everyone else and it’s been drip fed to us - social distancing - school closures - lockdown so I presume over the next day or so we’ll have something to say there will be a 14/15-30 day lockdown of some form perhaps.

people are mostly adhering to it but it’s not enough is it? everyone must do if not it’s a moot point isn’t it?

The whole situation is changing daily and because nothing like this has never happened before, nobody knows how it will pan out. Wednesday night I was told I was out of a job until we could open again and unpaid, Thursday I found out we can remain open and work 20 hours a week (2 long days) and self isolate between shifts.

I'm also eligible to send my son to school as I'm a frontline worker but I'm not going to.

We are told nothing, that's wrong because the Gov are keeping us in the dark, they share info as and when they have it and share procedure and they are doing that is wrong also. Don't close schools and they are doing wrong, close them and people are up in arms about their child not being back in School till September.

Ive got a tit ton of events and holidays booked this year. So far nothing has been canceled but I will get refunds on everything so I'm going to keep all the refunds in one account and book a big holiday next year to cheer us up!!

Also, does anyone feel bad getting their food shopping now? Like you are being judged?!

And its refreshing to not have to listen to Brexit being blamed for everything? Although I did see someone saying if we hadn't left the EU then we wouldn't have food shortages because of Covid19....

But even AFTER lockdown Italy’s figures are slightly higher than ours? So what are they doing wrong?

not saying your wrong btw just generally interested in all of this

I also think our government is trying to ease us into it rather than one minute free to do as we please and then next total lockdown
