15.5 Million tuned in to see the antics on Coronation Street, on Xmas Day 1999.

13.9 Million tuned in on Boxing Day 1999.

How many this year? A pittance in comparison.

I could be wrong but I read The Queens speech was top of the ratings with just over 7 million views so less than that šŸ™ˆ

Nearly one year on from Alf's death at the Platt's, on New Years Day.

Absolute legends.

By the time of these episodes.

Doris Speed had died 4 years previously (1995).
Pat Phoenix had died 13 years previously (1986).
Violet Carson had died 16 years previously (1983).
Jack Howarth had died 15 years previously (1984).

When you think about it, it feels somewhat strange that William Roache still continues to be a regular in Corrie, a long time after many of his original co stars have passed on.

Of that original 1960 cast, only a small handful are still alive as of today.

----------

Never mind 'Road Wars' (narrated by Lee 'Jez' Boardman).

It'll be 'Street Wars' in Corrie soon enough. šŸ˜†
