Chappell Roan

Not sure that will work given that the news stories around this aren't the most positive and it’s mainly her own fans who are supportive of it - the average person following celebrity news/gossip mostly appears to see this as her wasting her energy and being unprofessional

The videos of her crying about fame a couple of months ago had better reception from the public than this incident
Nothing changes if everything stays the same. Maybe she just sleeps better at night knowing she’s stuck up for herself.

I don’t have the details as I wasn’t there but it’s well known that paparazzi are aggressive and antagonise female celebrities to make them look crazy. It’s always been that way. They get the ump if you don’t give them the shot they want.
You don't need to be there, you just need to watch the video and see her going and squaring up to the pap and saying she's doing it because he pissed her off months ago.

She's making herself look crazy, the same way she has been for months. Or were the tiktoks somehow the fault of the paps?

No one should expect to go to work and have people be rude to them and then told to just smile and accept it because that’s how it’s always been. Feels like for famous women we’re stuck in the past and if they create boundaries they must be crazy.

Sorry, but who cares? She's not saving the bloody world, she sings. If she can't handle the photographers yelling directions to be heard over everyone else to get a photo, (them doing their job) then she can piss off.

I'm sick of the idea that I have to feel sorry for poor little celebrities. Oooooh, she was yelled at? Someone was rude? Welcome to real life, babes. Most of us deal with tit like that every day.

If you’ve got a job you enjoy doing but it’s being ruined by a few arseholes you’ve got a few choices;
Change job - shame because you actually liked the job part
Smile and put up with it - won’t last long
Try and change things - might as well try that before you give up, no?

The parts of her job she doesn’t like are not fundamental to her role. She’s a performer and makes music, she doesn’t need to be nice to paparazzi or accept stalking

The pap wasn't rude to her. He was telling another pap to shut the duck up. She is crazy for deciding it's all about her, probably because her main character syndrome is so enormous.

Paparazzi are known to be scum, you just have to see the treatment of female celebs throughout the years (Britney, Amy to name a couple), I just think it’s refreshing to see someone giving it back to them for a change rather than accepting it and letting it drive them slowly insane or out of their profession.

You see Taylor Swift snapped out and about and she manages to not make an arse of herself. Also, part of walking down the red carpet is to be photographed. It’s not like someone is there with a long angle lens snapping her in her garden.
Taylors team has an agreement with them, they are called when she wants to be seen so she can go about her business without them harassing her when she wants.

Acting up towards them just gives them what they want.

I think she needs to take a break and just rest for awhile. Her record was put last year, and it is clear that someone decided that they should give her a massive push pre festival season to get her to break through and since then she has been everywhere.

What I don't think helps, is that part of the push has been trying to paint her as a ' bold original voice with something to say', but she doesn't really come across like that outside of her songs. She has been built up to be something she isn't and people are disappointed when she doesn't echo their beliefs back at them.

She reminded me a little of Billie Eliish, how people act like she is a great feminist intellect, when a lot of what she has to say about anything is only exciting if you are a teen who has never heard it before. She does not have the life experience and comes cross clueless and imature

She also had a habit of over sharing personal things and then scolding people who ask questions about anything.

I think maybe she’s liked and accepted more amongst gen z as they’re less accepting of ‘things have always been done that way so suck it up’ compared to millennials or gen x. I’m not gen z but just an observation, they are less likely to accept things that are detrimental to their mental wellbeing than the generations before them.

I don't think anyone thinks she should suck up genuine mistreatment, but she behaves very much like an ungrateful brat who's biting the hand that feeds her tbh. She has a problem with EVERYTHING, it must be exhausting. She wants the celebrity with none of the hardship that comes with it, that's not how jobs work, any jobs.

All feels very much on purpose as she knows it'll get the posts on social media.

I think she's making fun of gen z and how they'll lap up the most banal stuff and think it's revolutionary.

That VMA performance was like a temu Kate Bush, I expected something far better for all the praise she got on the socials.

Her chart success is all down to getting a Dan Nigro song written with someone that wrote number 1's for Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez.

It's utterly unhinged to avenge a grudge against a stranger for a perceived slight 8 months ago. How angry and festering do you have to be to do that, and to even remember it in the first place?

And why does this only apply to the celebrity? What about photographers? By your logic, why should paparazzi have to put up with childish, spoiled divas - who occupy a more powerful social and economic position - publicly ranting and raving at them at their place of work? Photographers would be just as entitled to improve their lot and object to mistreatment.

Paparazzi only have to take photos of celebs. There is no requirement to be nice to celebrities either, by your logic. But I suspect you only apply your reasoning to Chappell because of classism. Photographers occupy a lower social rung, so they have to just accept their superiors giving them public dressings down.

Paparazzi are not stalkers. They have a symbiotic relationship with stars. You say the parts of her job she doesn't like are not fundamental to her role, but actually they are. Without fame and all that comes with it, she wouldn't even make a wage with her own music. She'd have to eke a living doing covers in pubs, clubs and weddings, like other non-famous singers (or live off Grandpa's money).

I really love a lot of her songs but I'm under no illusion that they are anything but bubblegum pop!!! She has a fantastic voice and does put in a good show but I don't get the rabbid fandom around her. She's hasn't done anything earth shattering.

Also, I don't give a duck if she snaps at photographers, most of them are pricks so he probably did deserve it. I don't get the desire for people to always take the higher ground.

People need to stop looking to celebs as if they are God's to be worshipped.
