Caroline Hirons #37 The Devil Wears Camo

This is where her obsession with not using her name "because look what happened to Jo Malone, she sold her company and lost her name" fails too. Trinny, Lisa Eldridge, Victoria Beckham - all using their own names. Oaf thinks that's beneath her and uses Skin Rocks when the average person doesn't know what Skin Rocks is. She should have capitalised on all the articles about her, and being on This Morning by using her name but when she launched she was already thinking about her exit strategy. That was a mistake she can't now undo
Skin Rocks as a brand name is not even creative and catchy, it doesn't have the quirky touch of Drunk Elephant for example. It sounds like some sort of skin condition. She's not going to be bought out by any big conglomerate with that name if that's what she's been after.

I was in Liberty yesterday afternoon, exactly one week before Christmas. As with all other reports on here about the SR market stall versus the other beauty counters, it was virtual tumbleweed (two members of staff and no customers) while the other counters were buzzing

I think she’s getting desperate. She’s been sending big boxes of her products to celebs. I’ve seen Rylan and Ruth Langsford both post to their Instagram and there was someone else earlier in the week but I can’t recall who! 😳

Funny isn’t it, she used to do 12 days of Christmas giveaways every year to her subscribers, but now they get nothing. She doesn't even give away her obscene amount of free advents anymore.
No she just gives things to those who can already afford them.
And she doesn’t mention giving a donation from her kits anymore either.
Still it’s winter and she’s 2 homes to heat…

I saw this too, and the amount of product that was in the boxes was obscene too. Ruth’s apparently was for her mum (not sure why). Then she’s trying to shill her tour, moans about paying staff for her app, lists just about everything on her awful yellow suit post apart from her knickers. The Corrs got a mention too in that list.
she has to have her family on that tour as fillers, then she won’t have to be paying out as much to other guests to appear.
yes, all the tagging and little denial about being an influencer, thats what is she is heading for as I really think she’s in trouble.

There was another random person she sent a box to - Giovanna Fletcher I think? Another one who can easily afford it all.

That podcast tour sounds thoroughly depressing - Gregpanda, Liv, Lou, her children. Oaf will be showing off terribly with lots of 'oh here he is. This lot will go mad' as Greg comes on dancing to Erasure.

I haven't read much of this thread, so apologies if this has already been mentioned.

One thing that struck me in the CH podcast interview with Nadine Baggott was when they were saying that beauty journalists weren't well paid but got a lot of perks. CH said that a few years ago she'd seen a beauty editor job advertised with a salary of £35k. She said it wasn't surprising that all beauty journalists were posh girls 'because you have to be able to sustain yourself without a salary.'

£35k would have been around the UK average annual income - and much more than some people and their families manage on - and yet, to CH, it seems that £35k is equivalent to having no salary.

£35k is overpaid, given the 'demands' of the job. And let's not forget the perks are beauty and hair treatments and products all completely free (a big saving on anyone's budget), plus all the free product you could ever want, which you are free to quietly resell at your leisure for cash. Plus the odd overseas trip, dinner, clothing and accessories (all you've got to do is unpick the the monogramming...). I'd estimate the actual salary plus benefits is probably around £50k plus.

Not bad for rehashing press releases!

In the podcast Nadine says that as a beauty editor she went around the world - travelling business class - with all expenses paid.

Did anyone see the little blurb on stories where she was doing a podcast and admitted that asking for recommendations for a new couch was actually a beg for a new couch? Oh but she’s not an influencer.
This is why and I’m sure that I’m not alone in this, where I see firms giving stuff away free to influencers I am no longer interested in their products.
a lot of these people are able to pay for their stuff and I find it insidious.
I get that firms advertise but I can’t buy into this lifestyle.
the recommendation from an influencer when given free stuff is no longer genuine not matter what they say.

Hypocrite Hirons strikes again with a SPF rant when she went on holiday , forgot hers and burnt to a crisp. She was also totally fine with her buddy Davinia Taylor saying she didn’t believe in SPF and that was “okay as it’s her opinion” but went on a huge campaign when Liz Earle shared her thoughts on SPF.

Also , in this clip she says she doesn’t want to see the signs of aging but Ma Hirons does not look like a woman who is supposed to be “the most powerful woman in beauty” with her Trump tan , overkill fillers and the appalling excuse for a hairdo that looks like shes constantly being electrocuted 😂😂

I’m sorry but if I didn’t know who she was and came across her now , I would not be looking to her for skincare OR hair advice. She’s like the before on a Trinny & Susannah makeover 🤣

Well, that's going to be a losing battle. Shes constantly going on about the terror of the Signs Of Aging and its just reeks of mean girl bullshit. We all age and signs of aging shouldn't be treated as if the bearer should be shunned and shipped off to a leper colony. Hirons is such a poisonous ageist and misogynist because, if we're honest, the vast majority of the time it's women being judged for going grey or getting wrinkles or their necks or not keeping up with "maintenance" or "beauty upkeep" or "self care" or whatever. She sounds like an incel sometimes, and I'd bet she's described a woman as "hitting the wall" at some point in her life.
