To be honest this all feels like a cynical ploy for the ICR to get a bit more attention and probably mrore funding by using Bowel Babe's name and the upswell of attention around her dying.

Which remains gross. And I'm absolutely sick of ppl, whether celebrities or these nobodies, getting doctorates for doing nothing. Wtf is the point of a doctorate then?!

The podcast went crap after Racahel died anyway. By far the best episodes are the early ones where it was clear that Rachael had really planned what she wanted to achieve. After she died I mostly stopped listening because you could tell the others were just trying to come up ideas to keep it going, and bar the odd episode, it wasn't that great.

The only reason any of them are on the podcast is because of Rachael - it was Rachaels idea, she could have chosen any of the 'cancer influencers' at the time, and there were a few other choices, and she chose Deb and Lauren. And as for Steve, he has brought absolutely duck all to that podcast, bar perhaps the episode with Amy, which was actually quite interesting and informative. Otherwise he just mostly sits there nodding along.

A doctorate!!!

Just seen Steve has posted it on his grid.

Lauren, Deborah, Deborah's family, Amy all tagged in the post. No mention of Rachael in his post at all. Not even her name.

I don't care how much you have "moved on"

He got a doctorate based on the idea his wife started. She was literally the reason the podcast got off the ground and they are acting as if she didn't even exist!

You can move on but still acknowledge what came before you and what put you in that position. I think it's even worse because it's the 4th anniversary of her death. They could have mentioned that and tied it up nicely with the doctorate. But no. Nothing.

No one has even acknowledged her and its so so so bleeping sad.
 
I admit I've never listened to it but I don't get that podcast at all - who on earth wants to hear from the husband of someone who died of cancer and someone who has been in remission for some time? it's not a 'living with cancer' podcast or a 'how to move on' one or even a 'coping with grief' it just seems to be a 'bang on and on about the same thing when it suits you' podcast when Bland and Lauren were just filler for Rachael and Deb. Move on and get real jobs.

In the early days of the podcast it was really interesting and informative. It was 3 women who were in the process of dealing with cancer or the immediate aftermath of completing treatment.

I think, as other people have said, one Steve came on board and as Lauren got further away from her own cancer treatment it became the Deborah show, she was the only one going through any cancer experience, the other two had nothing really to contribute so it lost that feeling of people sharing a common experience that made it so relatable in the early days.

Totally agree with the comments that it now need to either end or be reinvented with a new group of presenters.

I've only just seen the doctorate thing and am absolutely staggered. The only part I can support is Deborah's posthumous award and the ever-dignified behaviour of her lovely family. Bland and Mahon should not even be in that photograph as far as I'm concerned.
 
Does anyone else follow BowelBro? It sounds like surgery - at least at this stage - isn’t going to be feasible.

His oncologist went through & explained the reasons behind Basingstoke declining to accept the referral.

Meanwhile, his blood results are excellent. Even CEA (cancer marker) is down slightly. Rich is starting one of the most gruelling chemo regimens available in the hope it will give him more time.

He really can't stand any criticism can he, stupid man. If he's really still thinking about Rachael then he could show it, even just a little bit. At least then he'd appear in a slightly better light. All the sheep rushing to his defence 🙄🙄

He’s such an egotistical dick. I think it’s appalling that Rachael has been omitted from this and of all of them, he is the one who has a responsibility to keep her memory and her wonderful achievements alive. For Rachael in her own rights, but for their son too. He’s the worst father ever.

And, in my opinion, as far as I am concerned, anyone, Lauren or BBs family, or anyone else, who stands by and let’s it be forgotten that without Rachael, none of them would have achieved what has been achieved, then they really are only in it for their own glory. 🤦🏻‍♀️ this has really knocked me sick …

[added] you’d think that gobby LM would have the courage and the audacity to speak up about how wrong and unfair this is …

it is such a good job I’ve blocked him because after what I might say on his Instagram he’d definitely be reporting and blocking me.

I'm confused. It sounds like bowelbro is talking about a different oncologist than the private one he is seeing on his latest post? Am I missing something?

The way I read it is, he's been turned down by Basingstoke but got referred to Jamie Murphy in London. Peritoneal cancer is very difficult to treat, there are only a few hospitals that do it - Basingstoke, Christies in Manchester and this surgeon in London - Jamie Murphy. He's been given a meeting with Jamie and had scans and whatever and they might say it is treatable. I think he's putting a brave face on saying it probably isn't but always good to try.

Expect Lauren to do One Of Her Capital Letter Posts Later On All About The Emoshun Of Our Big Day Without My Girl Dame Debs. Wonder if she'll mention Rachael then?
 
I find this so so sad. My biggest fear, and my mums when she was dying was being forgotten … they have totally forgotten Rachel it’s absoloutely horrendous. SB being the worst with his over compensating posts about the new wife, it doesn’t come across as being totally in love btw Steve it stinks of trying to convince yourself and everybody else of your perfect love, yuck.
and I’m sorry but I hate people being given honorary degrees it means FA to those of us who have studied and are in debt to get ours.
