I kind of want to know what parts were made up for the show. Did the attack on the girlfriend and ex girlfriend happen? Cause now that everyone knows who the character was based on we don’t know if she did all those things too. Or were the characters made up for story? It’s tricky when it’s based on truth cause you don’t know what parts

I felt so alone because nobody understood just how much it was affecting me, it left me having a breakdown and suicidal and yet still he wouldn’t stop. As I said my post, he hasn’t done anything in the past 5/6 months but it’s been ongoing for 6yrs so I do believe he will pop up again. Last summer he sent me an email from a new email just a full stop. like wtf, just letting me know he was still there. I really truly hope he does leave me be just can’t shake it that he won’t.

Yea exactly! Even my best friends laughed it off, oh it’s just a crush, he’s harmless etc. It isn’t harmless though. Physically they might not hurt us but mentally they are intimidating if not frightening and it shouldn’t be so widely accepted. I really hope this is highlighted with Baby Reindeer. The police need a complete overall on how they deal with stalkings. I feel like the trying to find Martha has over ridden the message behind the show.

This is what I find quite troubling.

She’s so seriously mentally unwell that no one will believe anything she says - what if the cafe part really didn’t happen? I have no doubt she did stalk him, she’s as good as admitted to it and that in itself is simply awful, as is the language she uses to talk about minorities, but how much of what was portrayed in BR was fiction and included for dramatic effect?

I think that topic of BR is so important but I feel like it should have been made as a factual documentary really. I really can’t decide how I feel about RG’s motives. It’s all very complex
 
I'm starting to think Richard Gadd is a bit of prick who's obsessed with fame. He could have changed the script most stalking victims are scared of being murdered and it starting up again. He's obviously not scared of Martha he's choosing to mostly target her not his rapist because she is more vulnerable and has less power. He's fanning the flames for his shot at fame and money.
 
It is unfortunate that it’s become a big ‘find the real Martha’ where people have overstepped into online stalking, rather than a big stalking awareness thing.

Could have even helped some sort of charity towards it or yeah get the police to look in to taking stalking a lot more seriously.

I do find it odd how the show and peoples hate have been more directed at her character rather than the SA by the man

I’d be bothered if thousands of people thought I was someone who had behaved appallingly and I was receiving an avalanche of negative attention as result.

I’m not saying she’s not ‘Martha’, but asking why someone would be bothered by being mistaken for someone who had done awful things is odd. Wouldn’t you be bothered if everyone decided it was you who had done such things?

Yep Martha is a very unpleasant individual but she's very mentally unwell. RG admitted keeping it going because he liked the attention.
His rapist hasn't been given half the flack because he's a man in a position of power. Martha is an obese middle aged mentally ill woman probably on benefits.

I got the feeling that ‘Terri’ is a composite character based on various people he dated at the time, and in the show they operate as a vehicle for conveying his conflicted feelings about his sexual confusion (as well as Martha’s violence and dangerous jealousy)

Easier to blame the woman.....as it ever was....

Plus she's not attractive which is an even bigger sin obviously.

People would be more "Lucky bastard , I wouldn't mind being stalked by her" if she was.
 
I’m 100% sure that Facebook Woman is the real person Gadd based his Martha character on. I’m not sure how much of it is true or if he picked someone known for being batshit, who hung around trying to be noticed and about who no one would think his story was too far fetched due to the fact she is so unpleasant and bigoted, and a fantasist.
