I’m just going to say it. That child is not remotely “advanced”. He is behind average in everything we see of him imo having a child a simile age, they socialising with other children that age.
Which is absolutely fine, I’m sure he will catch up and has other skills we don’t see. But Ashley is an absolute moron showing him off like this. It’s just draws attention to any deficits, to how little input she has into Alf’s learning and how little she knows about children his age. It’s all just a bit sad.

Pretty sure not teaching him the phonetic alphabet might cause an issue or two further down the road…
How about rather than getting Uncle iPad to do the learning, you do your research into teaching methods that will compliment future learning in nursery / school?
again, Ashley is very deluded if she sees Alf as advanced. Sure, having the memory capacity to recall numbers and the alphabet is very good for his age, but then so would anyone be if they watched the same programs on a loop all day on a screen. The boy has nothing behind his eyes, no expression, no emotion, and is severely lacking in his gross motor skills. Maybe this is just Ashley’s way of trying to distract away from the main issues.

I know how many people are saying Alf isn’t advanced but my 2yo couldn’t do what he can 😔 And I think considering the morons who are raising Alf I think the little guy has done well learning from Uncle Ipad. My 2yo however can run like Bolt, do forward rolls, use balance beams and out scoot anyone and has nearly cracked the balance bike. He has incredible fine motor skills like with pen holding and he can have a full blown conversation with me, unlike Alf.

At this age they are all so different I think the problem is Ash just seeing him be able to do this stuff thinking he’s a genius (well I should hope so given he spends his life on UI) and not be aware of the basic skills he’s lacking.

Don’t come for me 😂🙈

It is good recall of the alphabet and where it is actually impressive is being able to identify letters out of sequence and match to where they go on that board. Not the parroting of set phrases.

Think about how much exposure he has had to this learning as well, compared to your child. Literally hours a day - every journey, meal time, put on in the middle of the night when he won’t go back to sleep….. That is a lot of repetition!

Ad's birth was always going to be sunshine and roses. I'm sure if you look closely at that professional photo that was taken by her "tripod", you'll see little bunnies running around, flowers sprouting, bluebirds flying around and everybodies eyes turned into love hearts.

There's a huge difference between not feeling that sudden rush of love, which is perfectly normal, you've just experienced one of the wildest things in your life, your hormones are crazy and you're a bit shellshocked and publicly stating "you didn't love your son". The fact she's worded it like that is so sad, but even sader she's shown time and time again that she has very little love for him 😢
I’ve not really commented on this thread before but here goes… I was basically Alf when I was growing up, my Mother always made it very clear that she much preferred my little sister and would say all the time what a horrible baby I was, even when I was in my 20s.
I recently saw some home movies and seeing it played out, the way she looked at me and acted towards me as a very small kid was not a nice experience. So I can’t imagine having that plastered all over the internet for the world to see, rather than just on an old video tape forgotten in a cupboard, and how horrible that would be. Poor Alf. I hope he has someone in his extended family that will support him and show him love as he gets older and that he feels he can go to and rely on.
I haven’t spoken to my Mother for many years now, I hope Ashley can turn it around with Alf but sadly I’m not sure she has it in her and there’s already been an awful lot of damage done very publicly in his little life.

Here’s a thought maybe stop going away all the time and put your heating on! If you can’t do both, and at the moment who can even if you earn loads then why are you letting your child get cold for the sake of wanting to go away because YOU want to -so selfish - really annoys me that these influencers who earn loads don’t prioritise properly - you have children - food and a warm home should be at the top of it - I would feel terrible if my child was not sleeping properly because they were cold at night

I still need to see more 😂. Like if you gave him an obscure word, can he hear the starting sound? Or is it all just memory? He’s very sweet and it does take some kids a really long time to even get to that point of memorising, but…eh. It actually doesn’t necessarily put them ahead, because the context isn’t there.

“D for woof woof” is all the evidence you need that he doesn’t actually understand what he’s doing. “X for xylophone” when that’s not the sound X makes, you’d expect a child to say Z for xylophone unless they’re just remembering being told it 🤷🏻‍♀️. Same for “yo yo” it’s not a word he’d have I n his vocabulary. Also, you shouldn’t really quiz kids like that, as tempting as it is 🫠

I think her heating must be pretty good, the videos she shares, they're never in multiple layers.

His room is cold because the window is tit and she attempted to beg for some freebies and that obviously didn't work so she's not bothered to pay it herself.

Getting the garden done and having holidays were more important.

Actually, what Alf can do in terms of his letter recognition is developmentally advanced. Understanding that print means something is important and he's smashing that. However, phonics is not the "baby alphabet" - it's how children learn to decode print and become readers.

I'd not brag about it though. A child's communication and language, social and emotional development and physical development is FAR more important at this stage... and Mummy iPad isn't going to develop those for Ash!

Plus it’s a whole bunch of stuff that’s going to need re-teaching at the point he starts to learn to read and write properly.
---
AND the video is quite edited… she jumps in so quickly with repeating back what he’s said (elephant 😂🙈) I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s not telling him the letter before he says it and they’re cutting it out. Anything for content, hey? Plus, she’s at absolute pains to defend the iPad because she’s obviously being called out on it.

forgive me for this as I know we have touched on this subject before and some people felt offended by strangers on the internet diagnosing something as complex as autism from videos of a young child but Alf's memory of the alphabet to me is another sign that points towards that?

people with autism are known for their high intelligence & excellent recall. throw in the repeated nature of things he says and does, lack of emotion/smiling, not talking much, unusual sleeping and eating habits (although well aware these 2 in particular are prob down to Ash) and I've definitely seen him do hand flapping too?

really not out to annoy anyone so I apologise if I do. I'm a teacher and I have family members who have severe autism (in their 30s, need full time care and still only say max 10 words) so I'm not saying it lightly.
