Actually Honest - skincare and makeup reviews #4

does anyone use the Cerave retinol serum? I’ve been using it on and off for a few weeks now and I feel like I could use it every night but I know people advise not too to begin with, but if my skin is tolerating it shall I just use it every night? I’ve been doing maybe 1-3 times a week when I remember!

I‘ve been using the youthbomb serum and night cream and the super healthy skin moisturiser.
I have been trying to find a replacement for the super healthy skin moisturiser for a long time (my skin breaks out a lot with moisturiser) so I can cancel my membership. I did try the ordinary natural moisturising factors one which was fine, it did the job but it was no super healthy skin

The reviews of it on Boots are incredible! I’m tempted to try it!

Can anyone recommend a nice eye make up remover? I used the boots botanics one for years but they’ve discontinued it! I’ve tried garnier micellar water, Nivea and simple since but they all leave my skin super sore!

Not the cheapest but Glossier’s Milky Oil makeup remover is the only thing I can use on my sensitive eyes, it does leave a cloudy film either.

The only micellar water I can get on with is the simple hydro boost one, the normal one doesn’t seem to do a thing!

Have you tried a magic cloth? You can just use warm water and it’ll take it all off.

What are we thinking of drunk elephant products? I've neglected myself a bit recently and saw a set of trial products (the littles in boots) and thinking of going for it when I get paid.

I ended up buying those bronzing drops when they were constantly selling out because I thought I was missing out on something. I don’t feel like it was worth it! I never use them.

Can anyone recommend a good facial oil for night time? I was looking at The Ordinary’s one but I’m not that familiar with their prodicts.

I like B Oil, sometimes it smells a bit herbal-y but it’s a good mix of skin-friendly oils. For a single oil rather than a ready made mix, I like rosehip and marula oils for my face. On my body I like to mix a few drops of their Argan oil into whatever body cream I’m using at the time if I need to dial up the moisture a notch or two. I sometimes dispense a couple of drops of Argan oil, rub my hands together then smooth it through the ends of my hair too.

I got a trial set a few years back from Sephora. Completely overrated in my opinion - they did nothing for me, not even the basic cleanse and moisturize.

Pure rosehip is lovely!

The Elemis one is STUNNING! It smells like a spa and just glides on and in to my face ! I get it on QVC, via top cash back ( all of my Elemis product actually ) and it’s worth every penny ! ( it can be a bit spenny , so I also do a pay in 3)

Anyone have any thoughts on Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment?

Been trying out a few things to deal with my swimming damaged ends but I was still struggling with “stiff ends” the day after washing. Been using this before bed to add back moisture and I think this might be the answer. I think I’ve used one of these up before (they come from m and s advent calendars) and didn’t rate it but I’m now thinking that’s because my hair didn’t need it. You only need a little and my hair is naturally greasy so presumably it was overwhelmed by the product before the chlorine dried the ends out so much.

I'm 34 and a first time moum to a 4 month old and I'm looking for some new facecare products 🙏

My skin is pretty dry, quite large pores on cheeks, forehead and nose, some red patches on cheeks.

My eyelids are very wrinkled (this is from using steroid cream in childhood) and my under eyes are pretty hollow and dark (they have always been like this)

Any must buy products?

Niacinamide will hopefully help the pores and redness. The Ordinary is cheap and works. But then you need some good moisturizer for the dryness, and drink lots of water.
i was just watching a video yesterday about wrinkles around the eyes, and the advice was to use a good buffer moisturizer around the eye and gentle tap a mild retinol cream after it. The moisturizer works as a buffer to the retinol cream so it’s not too harsh. I would be very careful if you already have skin issues, but just thought I’d throw it out there.

Talk to me about the mac radiance serum powered foundation people - any thoughts/reviews?

I know it runs a bit darker than other macs foundations. I am tempted to get it while its reduced on look fantastic
