I loved both Meghans original trilogy ring and Catherine/dianas sapphire one. If Catherine’s had that ring for 15 years I’m not sure why she suddenly wants it changed now.

Perhaps it is not practical to wear a ring like that every day.
 
I am pretty sure Kate wasn’t wearing the big stone day to day. With her weight loss, being out of the public for a long time and only doing minimal work I can easily imagine that she hasn’t been wearing it a lot/ if at all. Maybe it doesn’t fit well atm? No point in resizing and then resizing it again. Maybe she finds it more comfortable to hear something simpler? I am pretty sure that we will see it on her hand again soon enough.
The fact that some people (me included) think of the ring as a symbol for a failed marriage, mustn’t meant that W&H feel the same. H allegedly wanted it to propose and W got it in the end. So both seem to think about it in a very strong and positive way. Maybe the ring we are seeing now is her actual engagement ring? Wasn’t there something about them getting engaged and then getting engaged again in Africa or something like habt? At least a mutual understanding? Blue is her/their favourite colour and I am pretty sure if non had used Diana’s ring, there would have been headlines made about it. The idea, that a man has to „design“ the engagement ring is also pretty new. It only has been a thing in the last 3 years or so. W&K strike me as the more traditional and strategic type. So using THE iconic ring makes sense. Nothing screams more Diana. Apart from the Lovers Knot. And she is wearing that as well (and styling it hideously).
