West End Gossip #3

1
There was a celebration service last night at the actors church Covent Garden in memory of Gavin Creel. I’ve seen a few snippets on insta from Marisha Wallace, Joel Montage and Zizi Strallen.
good god Montague gets everywhere. It's like they used to say about Bananarama - that they will turn up at the opening of an envelope. I dread to think how much he will have made it about him on his socials. Did he actually know Gavin or is he just there for luvvy points?

I wish I'd known about it though. First I heard was someone on my IG posting the order of service. No idea how she heard about it as she's just a theatre fan

Joel and Gavin worked together several times. He’s justified this time around (even if he did make it about himself). Gavin and Carrie also worked together.

The service was ALL over social media. I saw it when it first got posted, letting people know it was happening, and I’m a theatre fan. Basically everyone was sharing it. My massage therapist even knew about it.

gosh how odd because I follow a lot of theatre people and it was never mentioned by them..I did stop following Marisha when she left Guys and Dolls tho - wishing I hadnt.

my social media was filled with Gavin but most of the posts were US folks. i think i don't follow a lot of the West End names (cos I am not really into the types of things they are in )which is probably the issue. I do follow someone who knew and worked with him but he wasn't going and posted about it after

Joel, Zizi, people from Devil Wears Prada, and a lot of west end all posted about the service, but it also got lost amongst the memorials. Marisha spearheaded it, I believe.

Thanks that explains it. as i suspected its cos i dont follow a lot of the British West End names mostly cos i am not really into musicals ( though weirdly I end upgoing to a lot - i think its because of the shows that my old workplace used to get on cheap deals as well as there's sadly not a lot of plays about in proportion._) so the likes of CHF Joel, Muscato, Strallens etc would be off my radar..

Oh look Mickey Jo Theatre has done a video on the Sunset Boulevard Times Square scene,,, wonder where he got that idea?

OMG HI

UGh his take is annoying me and really badly reasoned. He's saying that its only putting ppl out for 30 seconds and equating it to moving away from a subway platform... I do not get why as someone who spends a hell of a lot of time in NYC and Broadway hes so unaware of what the area is like. I have been in that exact location spending time waiting for ppl at SD, attending shows, meeting friends etc at night and it is NOT nice round there.. the amount of mentally ill folks especially men harassing women is terrifying. They can be very dangerous and scary and often high on all kinds. It's not the Savoy clientele , the show would be dealing with all kinds of potential issues here

Just looked at the Tom Hiddleston Much Ado tickets. Was in a work meeting at 11 but it wasn’t a long wait trying at 11:30 but I didn’t get any. I just can’t bring myself to spend over £100 for a single ticket and the Drury Lane is such a barn, I don’t went to sit in the cheap seats 😅
i got a Betrayal for about 80 quid front row and thought that was dear.. bargain tbh as tickets for that production were going for about £300 at the time.

Cheap seats are hit n miss. I tell you where you dont want them.. the Savoy OMG. I am so glad they used cameras onstage it was the only way i saw anything.
