Everyone I know who I’ve spoken to about it recently seems to have more sympathy for them now because it seems to have been somewhat confirmed that it wasn’t the parents. (Although until someone is actually charged with something I still think anything is likely personally).

I don’t get that. Whether they were involved in her disappearance or not they still LEFT her. She was practically still a baby. They left her alone with her actual baby siblings. It baffles me honestly. I feel a lot of sympathy for Madeleine and her siblings but I struggle to find much for her parents.

This is a massive problem I have, the parents were treated like they were innocent when they left their children alone! What parent does that?! Their socio-economical background helped them so much, I reckon they might have been charged if it weren’t for that and their impressive PR campaign.

I am very hazy on this but wasn’t there two family friends, a woman and a man, and the woman spoke how the man had touched Maddie inappropriately or the father had? I’m not sure but there was this comment that was made and I was surprised that no one questioned it further but I can’t for the life of me remember it and I don’t want to Google too much because, well the search words are a bit dodgy.

Indont think they killed Maddie but agree on the Gerry front.

I was once in a shop with Kate and the female twin, a couple of years ago. Kate seemed very mild, subdued but I didn’t get any sinister vibes from her. I could definitely see her being the less dominant person in a relationship let’s just say.

I often wonder if I’d been around Gerry in person if it would’ve changed or confirmed my opinion of him.

a migrant might be lovely, polite etc. They might be a good egg but ultimately believe that women should be home makers because that’s the norm in their country of origin, that women shouldn’t walk around alone at night and that men and women shouldn’t live together before marriage. This view will likely be inherited to an extent by their children and maybe even their grandchildren. And they will become voters in all likelihood.

that’s a pretty huge contrast to the view women have been fighting for, for themselves for a long time in the U.K.

You clearly feel very strongly and that’s fine. This is a thread for different viewpoints and mine is as different to yours as could be.

I don’t feel particularly strongly about it, but I think it’s important to recognise the points I made and consider them. That’s what I feel strongly about. The media/politicians/individuals talk about immigration in very simplistic terms. Bad/good, scroungers/contributors to the economy.

the reality is a lot more nuanced and no one ever seems to consider that.
 
The whole Gen Z / Millennial thing is so stupid. They both have people who make it their entire personality and think their generation is the most progressive and radical ever. Posting tit like “urgh that’s so millennial” or “eww gen z issue” is dumb.

Every generation, yes even boomers, have their progressive people. Every generation has their close minded idiots.

the whole style thing is dumb too. they both claim to be open minded but then someone has a different style and it’s a “ewww millennial stuff is so cheugy” or “i hate gen z style” Like Chill becky let people wear skinny jeans/mom jeans it doesn’t impact you

Depending on what the cut off year is i’m either older gen z or younger millennial so i don’t really fit either 🤣
 
My original point was that immigration is not the calamity we're sold, but it's an easy one to direct people's outrage towards while far worse things are going on.

If you want fewer immigrants and asylum seekers, consider how many more there will be if we DO experience major climate crisis and people have to start fleeing from increasingly uninhabitable areas of the world. But it tends to be the same people who moan about immigrants and climate activists.
 
Gerry and Kate are both scumbags. Anyone who leaves any of their children below the age of 16 ( and I would argue older), alone in a hotel or any accommodation while in a foreign country shouldn’t have children.

No one likes to think that kidnaps, rapes, and other bad crimes happen but the fact is they do. Your job as a parent is to protect your child and keep them safe at all costs. They failed. They have paid the ultimate price but I have no sympathy for them. I feel sympathy for the millions of children who go missing every year whose parents had no helping hand in their disappearance.

100%. The only person I think anyone should feel sorry for is poor Maddie.

Every adult who was there failed her.

One thing about climate change is that it’s said taking the bus and train is better than driving. I’m not a fan of driving but we have hardly any buses in the rural areas and the trains here are tit. Any improvements seem to be in the cities which is understand as more people use them, but it would be nice to have something to help the countryside.
 
On the subject of the McCanns, I'm often criticised for my viewpoint that even if they didn't murder their child, their negligence ultimately led to her disappearance.

The property they were staying at had a babysitting service but nope. Let's just sedate our children with Calpol Night and go have tapas. The sedating the children really gets me worked up because let's say if someone did try to kidnap the child, if sedatives had have been given then the child is less likely to wake up and draw attention to what's going on (i.e. crying).

Make no mistake of it, if a 17 year old single mother from a council estate did this, she would be in jail and the other kids taken off her.
 
Hugh jackman is a god.

the greatest showman is tit, the story is tit, the album is good though,
I feel a bit dirty that that child from high school musical is now highly f**kable. 😐
A solid 8 out of 10 on the “totally would” scale
but the storyline of that show is boring as duck.
I do like the bar scene/dance with musical child and Hugh.

Gerry and Kate McCann didn’t want kids, they clearly didn’t want them and didn’t want the ones they were left with,
They put more effort into finding a needle in a haystack (missing Maddie) than they did looking after the needle when they knew where it was, they also seemed to forget about the kids they had left at home who were struggling with a missing sister and constant press coverage for years.
Why. Guilt. Because regardless of what happened it was there fault.
