There’s an advert on TV at the moment about some new anti-drug overdose medication that they want the average Joe to be trained up on and be able to use if you come across someone who has overdosed.

Sorry but no, if you’re a drug addict lying in the middle of the street I’m not about to start injecting you to save your life 🙄🙄🙄

If you found someone collapsed, how would you know if it was due to drugs or some other illness?

I hate Those fb groups where they’re either:

chucking a load of paint on a really unattractive piece of furniture and calling it “shabby chic” (shabby tit) trying to flog it for £300

or

Chucking a load of paint on a very beautiful antique piece of furniture just because it doesn’t fit the grey colour scheme. 😭

Agreed, I think painted furniture will age really badly, and I say this as someone who has painted furniture.

I did try to restore a vintage sideboard though and can confirm that stripping back dark finishes is really hard work, rarely looks great And is time consuming and expensive.

so I guess at least the chalk paint approach saves stuff from landfill/keeps it sustainable ?

We don't need dog trainers we need people trainers. Way too many people bring their animals up by equating them with human feelings ( I blame Disney) If you have a neurotic animal that can't be near people or other dogs then you made that problem or another human made that problem.

Dog trainers who tell you to put a coloured/lead bandana on your dog to warn others of certain problems. are rubbish trainers. No, if your dog is nervy around other dogs then get them used to other dogs don't keep them away. dogs are the most sociable animals (unlike cunty cats ;) ) Your dog is not a baby so stop treating it like one. Don't dress them up and don't talk to them like they understand every word, they don't, they understand tone and actions If your dog barks at people knocking at the door or walking past then teach it not to (one warning bark only), don't tell it to shut up, it believes you are joining in. You need to distract your dog so it stops then give it a treat or praise. Don't just tell yourself it's what dogs do, a dog who barks all the time is a distressed dog.

Cyclists are selfish knobheads. Why do they always choose single track lanes at the most inconvenient times to travel? That or think they are better than the rest of us who don’t want to turn up at work sweaty and in Lycra

They are all sanctimonious Jeremy Vine types as well. I once got stuck behind a cyclist on a country Lane and had to follow for a bleeping eternity as I couldn’t overtake safely. No joke, I was an hour late for work. I put it on Twitter and omg the cyclist crew went OFF!

I had one tosspot ask me how I had calculated that I was an hour late because of a cyclist. Well dipshit- I’ll tell you why - it was a 60mph road where I had no choice BECAUSE OF YOU to do 15mph for the entirety of my journey and then I got held up in other traffic I would have bleeping missed if you hadn’t have slowed me down.THAT AND THE FACT I WAS AN HOUR LATE FOR WORK!

Slimming world is a con! Teaches people toxic unhealthy relationships with food and is just a money spin. Getting people to weigh in front of everyone else to shame them, getting them to “syn” their foods - this is so toxic labelling food like this - most people liken “syn” to “sin” - no food is bad as such, everything’s okay in moderation. Slimming world then give people “free” foods whereby you can eat as many of this as you want but should stick to portion sizes, free things include potatoes, pasta etc. I saw an account on Instagram literally eating pasta for breakfast lunch and dinner thinking that was healthy because it’s “free” foods. Most people on it try hard all week and the night before weigh day won’t eat past a certain time etc in the hope they’ll lose weight on the scales in front of everyone the next day. Then when they get their loss they come home and go on a “cheat day” where they binge all the junk food going!! So much more I could say but the long and short is they’re cunts only after your £5!

my old housemates were on slimming world for a while. They spent ages cooking their meals from scratch, following the intricate rules… then they’d have days where they’d just pig out and gorge and ruin any progress they’d made.

their weight issues came from an unhealthy relationship with food, ignorance of food itself and years later they are still overweight.

I think slimming world can be helpful but it’s not a good long term solution

I'm a size 6-8, which apparently means I'm not a 'real' woman. What am I then, a bleeping hologram?
I’m 8-10 . I’ve had oh you clearly don’t eat , when I eat more than my dh 😂, oh what diet are you on. Always from larger people who think because I’m smaller they can body shame me. might start asking people people how many mds they had yesterday.

Too many women settle for less commitment than they want.

some of the women in my life have been with their partner for years, feel secure and happy in their relationship so decide to skip the whole marriage thing that they want and have a kid, thinking their boyfriend will “commit” when they share a child.

A friend of a friend had a baby with her childhood seeetheart. She desperately wants the fairytale wedding, but he wasn’t forthcoming with a ring so she agreed to get pregnant. Their child is a toddler now and she’s still waiting for a proposal.

but like someone pointed out on the last thread, men don’t face the same social stigma if they decide to up and leave, at any point.

marriage isn’t just a romantic notion. It offers a degree of protection and stability.

if you’re going to make yourself financially, psychologically, emotionally and physically vulnerable by bringing a man’s child into the world then he should be willing to offer you the modicum of protection that being his legal wife, affords you.

Don’t believe his crap if he tells you “it’s just a piece of paper” (it’s not) or that he “just doesn’t believe in marriage” aka he just doesn’t want the legal commitment to you.

Horses. I don't like them, don't think they should be rode up and down main roads, think people who own one are normally spoilt princesses and even though I don't like them they always looks so bleeping miserable stood in a field on their own in a coat, in the rain that I always hate the people who put them there in the first place.

I also don't like Shetland ponies, bad tempered little bastards.

All this “don’t force your child to hug anyone they don’t want to!” crap is bullshit and really fucks me off.

Why's that?
[/QUOTE]
What’s wrong with your child giving its Nan a hug when she asks for one? Telling them they don’t have to just breeds kids that have no manners, sensory problems and social connection issues. I’m not advocating for kids to have to hug every Tom, Dick and Harry but close family members who they know well shouldn’t be a problem. Often they don’t want to hug them because they want to go and play with their toys instead which is plain rude.

Would you expect an adult to hug someone they don’t want to?
Yes 😂

Exactly - but she's saying 'DON'T force them to' is crap, though.

They could just greet them politely without having to hug them. I didn't feel at ease with that sort of contact as a child and it wasn't forced on me.

The wellness industry thrives on telling women there is something wrong with them

The online coaching industry thrives on telling women they are inadequate

There is an agenda being pushed behind most conspiracy theories

Organisations pay people to create profiles / create bots on forums and social media to push their agenda

You can choose to see the world as either a hostile place of doom or just get on with it. We’re not free, and if you choose to live in society then suck it up

It should be illegal to cycle on the roads in the U.K. and Ireland. If you want to do that tit go to Holland. So dangerous. Annoys me most when they cycle in groups side by side taking up the whole bleeping road so you can’t even overtake.

Not disagreeing at all, but where would they cycle? Pedestrians don't want them on the pavement either.

Alcohol and cigarettes should be banned. But they won't due to the money made.
