UK Online Safety Bill

Has anyone seen some of the porn easily accessible on Twitter? I'm an occasional user and saw it when having a nosey at someone's liked Tweets. I had no idea until then. It's everywhere, how do they get rid of it all? (They can't)
That seriously pisses me off, an they use hashtags that's totally inappropriate as well, the amount of naked people I've seen under the hashtags art or adult colouring is ridiculous, while I couldn't care less about naked people I know that I wouldnt be happy if my kid was looking through hashtags like art an crafts an come accross all that

That's crazy, I don't think anything truly bad happened at the under 18 nightclubs here, I mean not much more than what would happen at schools an such, an they did help to keep them from getting into actual nightclubs that would have exposed them to a more adult environment with drinks, possibly getting spiked an much worse, so in a way I feel like the under 18 nightclubs was much better for them, they could get that "nightclub" feeling but in a much safer environment an they did get them fun drinks like mocktails to give them the experience of a type of adult drink
We used to have a pub with no beer when we were teens that was just before drugs arrived on the scene that’s when things changed for the worst

Instagram has a no nudity policy. I searched #sexy and the first result had a nude as the pic and hardcore porn videos in the account.

Face book groups are full of porn, as are Whats App groups.

It's so unworkable. If they wanted to do something it needs it's own bill, not just tacked on at the end of something else.

Everytime I hear Nadine Dorries talk about "making the UK the safest place to go on the internet" I lol. If someone so incompetent is at the helm it's going to be a right mess.

The music and film industry actually have competent people and they've had very little success policing the internet. The most they've managed is a few fines, closing sites that get mirrored and back online in hours and blocking sites so people just have to click the "use VPN" button to unblock them.

I wonder how big tech will respond.

Kids are always going be exposed to porn, sex, drugs, underage drinking an more, it's sad but they don't show TV shows like they did back when I was a kid cause now shows need to be sugar-coated, when I was a kid you had shows designed to address these issues an show the actual reality of them, while it's not a certain that watching a show will suddenly stop a child going into it more because they see the reality it did help kids become more vocal in asking about these things, schools even would teach alot about it even from young ages schools did alot but now they can't do a thing for fear of parents going crazy, again the last thing you want is to go off on your kid about how it's a no-no then just leave it, they just become more curious then an want to look into it more leaving them open to dive into truly dark holes on the net, while computers should be locked down for kids an parents should know how to do that, if they do get into it then explain to them what they have seen an talk with them, it's better to leave them understanding to some extent than to walk away all together after yelling at them

There’s lots of stuff on TikTok my 9 yr old was able to access the ManU player’s rape / abuse vid simply because he happened to be looking through the players ( he’s a big united fan) I couldn’t believe it when I heard it playing although it’s my fault for letting him watch TikTok .

A lady used the anecdote about a child using the search term wild pu ssy and being totally traumatised about what Google through up.
To be fair if you enable Google safe search (which is easy) this wouldn't happen. It's not nearly as easy to avoid on twitter, Reddit,FB, tiktok etc. Google do a far better job than the others at filtering content.

Parents do need to take some responsibility.

Oh I know, "something" was mentioned on a thread here a while ago and I went off to Google, couldn't find it. Google are good.

Yeah there's some really disturbing stuff ,even on YT the amount of suicide vids is shocking and freely available to watch . What possesses people to upload this kind of thing to begin with ...it's sick

I agree an I definitely blame the sites themselves for not being responsible enough to make sure this all stays off, it's like these ridiculous prank things where they are targeted specifically towards kids but kids don't understand an realise that it's all fake, there was that youtuber who ended up being shot dead because he had grown watching these prank things believing them to be real an tried to do a "theft prank" where he ran up to people brandishing a knife to try an get them to hand over their wallets an they shot him in self defense where he died because he thought this was how the pranks he seen online where done, to me youtube is the worst for sickos an idiots to upload these things because they know they are being seen by kids

Off topic but when my youngest was little she loved in the night garden, I was letting her watch clips of it on YouTube whilst I was in the hairdressers, some absolute wise guy thought they were clever to upload a clip were IP was shot dead. Bastards 😂

Jeepers why did that link come up. I'm so sorry.

Yeah ! those prank things are so dangerous wasn't some YTers girlfriend badly burned doing one .The amount of stuff targeted at kids is getting out of hand especially through gaming channels etc ,I have to keep telling my son these thing he watches are fake you don't go and give your parents debit card details to people so you can claim millions of Vbucks ,it's unreal .

You should've put Iggle Piggle instead of I P 🤣 🤣 I thought it was a mod edit or something 😂

Exactly, the scams now a days are more geared towards kids than adults because they know they can get away with it more, it's becoming more an more where you need to sit down to kids an explain how scams work an why you need to tell your parent if someone is asking for somthing, not that scams haven't always been around but I don't think they were so heavy when I was a kid as they are now, and the gaming ones are so huge which wasn't a thing back then, I've heard tons of stories where parents cards have been maxed because kids have been pressured into taking them an using them or handing details over, even on twitch you get people telling their audience (again mostly kids) how ungrateful they are or how they clearly aren't a fan etc because they aren't donating to them

This worried me, my 10 year old is obsessed with Fifa so asks questions when a player gets removed. Could easily lead to a Google or YouTube search and exposed to inappropriate content. He doesn't have much Internet access and my parental controls are strict but I'm not going to pretend it can't happen.

I only let him watch TikTok when he's here in front of me and it's my email he's signed in with but it's so easy to override PC and kids are so tech savvy he knows more than me .

Apparently France, Germany and Italy are trying a similar thing. Nice to know the UK isn't alone with politicians not understanding how the internet works 😆

Yeah they deff get at them through gaming channels ,my eldest son ran up a massive bill one time, thought he was buying stuff in pence when it was in ten pounds luckily my phone provider let me know but not before it was in hundreds of pounds ,which I still had to pay .That learnt me to put a zero excess on my account .

Dang sorry to hear you ended up having to still pay it, especially such a high amount, the game ones are the worst ones out there, my cousins all ended up having to put passwords an such on everything because the kids would constantly ask for money to buy into these scams an they feared that would happen where the kid would just take the card, it's the same with mobile apps, my little cousin wanted to subscribe to some game she was playing, so we had a look at it as usually they are around £2 or £3 this one game was £45 a month 😳 I was like what the hell, so we explained to her that to pay that we would need to stop paying for the sky an disney+ to make her understand more just what she would need to lose in order to pay that, she eventually got rid of the game thankfully

I just tried accessing pornhub from German and French vpns who apparently have some kind of protection. All you get is a box to self declare that you're over 18. This box doesn't seem to happen with a private window when using a UK connection.

Going well in other countries 🙄
