There's been unsavoury rumours about David Walliams for years and the press never seem to go near it.
Sapphire Blue Ethel Austin here (History of Art, rejected from Durham and Bristol, ended up at Exeter)
I feel David Williams barely counts as a literary luvvie. Its like he clocked on that it was lucrative and even more so if you could make it “educational”and “progressive” eg his book about a kid cross dressing.
Gangsta granny is so cringe. They books are total Roald Dahl wannabes, right down to the quintin Blake illustrations. I get the vibe that williams wants the same sort of national treasure status as Dahl.
he really gives me the creeps. I really do think stuff will start coming out about him, as Piers Morgan says, it feels like this is they up of the ice burg.
RE the current scandal… someone chose to record him and they then chose to release that, which for me is interesting in and of itself.

Thread on Reddit years ago about impressions of UK celebs. A girl who who worked on Little Britain said a scene where Walliams wipes his genitals with a towel then hits her in the face with it was not scripted and her surprise/disgust was genuine. Tried to find the thread but couldn't, however google his name + Reddit and you'll find other people sharing creepy and hole stories esp BGT participants and audience members.

That’s horrible. Surely someone involved in the shoot should have spoken up, how could anyone think that is ok?!

But yeah DW has always been a creep, poor LaraBack to Walliams, remember when he married Lara Stone? What was that all about?!
On an unrelated note, there's a very boring 'at home with' article on Pearl Lowe and her chintzy house in Harpers Bazaar.

I think that photographer is perfect for the LL set. Everyone raves about her within the circle but most people just think WTF. She’s the photographer equivalent of those boob mugs they all got commissioned. Bet she charges a fortune.
