Usually I'm not influenced by influencers, but book recs are the exception. I fall for it every time. The blurb will say ''essential reading' and 'mesmerising', and I'll be like oooh essential and mesmerising. I'll have to read that one! Always a disaster. 😂

I've posted this on a different thread, but it's too good not to bring up again. Has anyone here read Wild by Jay Griffiths? Here's a quote from the back cover, courtesy of Richard Mabey from The Times (a man who Mabey on Drugs):
''Incandescent, exhilarating, sensuous, cocky, magnificent, explosive. A raging oratorio.'' He goes on to call it 'kaleidoscopic', 'liberating' and says that it contains 'crafted cadences'. Whenever I see a very enthusiastic blurb, I think ''RAGING ORATORIO!''

girl, same. I have learned nothing from being here and am currently reading The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel, the cover promises it is beautiful and mesmerising... so far it's mostly making me yawn

Common high street influencers who need the money need to declare their sponsored content. Panda is different, she doesn't need the money, it really is just a gift, and she isn't really even on Insta except actually every day

Agreed Glass Hotel was v dull but I have to say her book Station Eleven is actually so good, one of my favourites if you feel like giving her a second chance.

What podcast was that?

the ED advert for herself is insane. I can imagine her having conversations with her husband in their white, White, WHITE house about how her podcast is basically the same as having a hit tv show like fleabag so why shouldn’t she celebrate her successes? Why do phoebe and dolly get to enjoy the glossy adverts for their shows yet her podcast, which when you think about it is JUST as relevant, has to sit quietly at the back?
 
I say this with love as I always like to support women at the top. What did you DO as editor of Vogue that you can’t organise a clothes sale and make a list of five things you liked this week?!
I also work and I could give you a list of five things I liked in under a minute 💀

I love how badly framed this photo is. Like, she spent years at Vogue surrounded by talented graphic designers and photographers...and seems to not have picked up many tips re framing a picture!

And that the vase is just plonked on a chair! It’s like something from the pre-digital age where you’d need to take some random photos to finish off the film!

Mind you, I hope she never changes, I love the hilarity of each update.

She loves herself sooooo much. That new insta post of her pointing and grinning at her own face slapped over Leicester Square. Actually embarrassing. She also never acts or dresses her age and it bothers me
