I can’t imagine anything worse than having those LLs at my wedding especially Dolly Alderton 😂 It’s all about meeee

not asking to be hand held as Google exists but I’ve never actually heard of this czaroline/ Caroline o donoghue beyond here? Know she does a podcast with Dolly

I love Caroline. Have followed her since The Pool days and I remember being so excited for her first novel to come out (it banged!). Sentimental Garbage was also a great podcast before Dolly and it still is after her. I also loved her School for Dumb Women podcast with Alex Haddow and Hannah Varrall and miss it dearly.

I think Caroline has made the point herself that it’s very rare for an author to have the kind of profile Dolly does so I don’t think it would be fair to compare the two on how ‘known’ they are but also think Caroline was on a great trajectory before she was ever pals with Dolly and I think she’s really talented. (Though we can all agree the bloody fire pit was extremely annoying).

Oh I’ll have to check her out thanks! I avoided the Pool on principle though 😆
 
At the time, I read a lot from The Pool and enjoyed it. With hindsight, I feel like it was mostly wank and driven by Sam Baker and Lauren Laverne flinging work at their mates (like Sali Hughes dipping her toes into being a real columnist and <gasp> not writing about beauty) 😅

It was all very messy at the end when SB and LL jumped ship shortly before it sank, owing writers a lot of money.

Hello from a lurker in Australia. Something that has always puzzled me is whether Caroline would’ve had a decent payday given the success of Promising Young Woman as a film?

I thought the wedding seemed happy and fun but it has always irked me how much Caroline talks about how she & Gav are still so “horny” (her word) for each other. Just adds to the whole cool girl shtick.

That movie was written by Emerald Fennell and is completely unrelated to Caroline's novel.

There was another wanky quote about being wrestlers and throwing chairs or some shite. V writery try hard.
It looked like a fun wedding but not outrageously fun. She reposted to show how FUN and RELAXED and CHILL it all was.

Not a fan of the dress at all but it’s certainly different. Makes me think of a rural wedding in the states where the couple are into dressing up as fairies and wood nymphs at the weekend (good for them). They got married and the woman made her own dress.
