This isn’t a particular diss on Dolly, just a general comment- I think Dolly’s a bit too young to interview a Spice Girl. She’s my age so in 1995-6-7 when they were big would have been around seven or eight- I mean I remember them being on TV, but just as ladies singing. Someone in their 40s who realised that they paved the way in popular culture for the likes of Dolly would have been better :)

Read the actual article and yeah she’s talking about dancing to wannabee when she’s 8- I want to hear from someone who they changed their life for age 15 😂

I actually zoomed in when I saw her pic on Insta as she looked so terribly thin. This is why even if you’re very very rich you shouldn’t just give your children everything.

If they don’t have to strive to eg earn money, they won’t, then they will feel worthless and have no self esteem. Which leads to issues such as eating disorders.

Ruined by her parents’ poor parenting. I have rich friends who’ve suffered the same, although all of them have got better, while poor Scarlett still languishes in the doldrums of mental illness.

She seems a perfectly nice well-meaning girl though, so I do really blame the parents for not bringing her up better. Hurling cash at your children is no substitute for parenting.

I think it's a bit simplistic to say anorexia is the result of poor parenting.
Well obviously not all bad parents have anorexic children. Plenty of other factors such as EDs in one of. the parents. I believe Scarlett’s mother has issues in that area herself.
But I have lots of friends who’ve had EDs (was going to say don’t we all, but my working class friends tend not to, funnily enough), and you can see clear patterns emerge. Whether it’s fashionable to say so or not, I don’t really care.

I read the Amazon blurb on Stacey's book and all I can say it I hope the book is better edited than that! It's all very well being all freewhellin' and stream of consciousness on a Substack but I think I would get tired quickly if the actual book is as chaotic as she is. I do agree she's funny though. I also imagine it will be cringe af and feel a bit sorry for the kids of all these divorcefluencers airing their dirty linen in public in the name of #empowerment
