I muted Musk from my timeline ages ago, which in many ways I would recommend. But right now I feel like I did during the Southport riots, when I had no clue what loads of people were going on about until I watched a Tommy Robinson video and realised they were all just parroting his idiotic talking points. Same with Musk now, he seems to be the one driving so much insanity which literally doesn't make sense unless you're on twitter or a follower of such, uh, philosophy.

To think that Elon Musk said he bought Twitter/X because he wanted a neutral platform.

The few occasions I am on Twitter I rarely check the "For you" section as since Musk has taken over the algorithm is pushing far-right conspiracies and hatred and I don't want to screw up my sanity.

Elon Musk's account is itself a big provider of misinfo, lies, conspiracies etc. This guy has millions of views and his content gets amplified on all social medias platform.

Elon is a vile misogynistic, racist, anti-trans, asshole. To think all of the so-called progressive lefty-libs (for want of a better term) platformed him by using his social media company. It's sickening to me. It goes to show how dumb the mainstream media celebs are ... I won't name them, you know who they are. These people make money off Trump. My 'for you' section is curated so I don't see all this stuff (which I guess is why it all comes as something of a shock). I do think twitter can be valuable in actually defying the mis- and dis-information peddled by legacy media - or in accessing information that our news actively ignores. But you do have to be relatively media literate, and know your own mind, in order to navigate it properly.

Does anyone have any updates on the court case Elon was bringing against the advertisers who withdrew from Twitter? You know, the one where he told them they could duck off, then they fucked off, and now he’s suing them for bleeping off?

I have heard people suggest that this new position that has been created for him in the US Government is just made-up bullshit just to placate him. Trump hates him and I think the feeling is mutual. So eventually all of these nuts will attack each other. I mean, I'm just trying to look on the positive side of things. The negative side is too horrible to contemplate. Good job he's an illegal immigrant from South Africa really ... he'll never get to be President, maybe Trump will deport him.

I wonder how many will actually flee? Twitter seems to be still used and promoted so much by public figures and old media when there's so many clones out there. If I had a role in gov I certainly wouldn't use it as a platform seeing the replies they all get to their posts and people who bought a blue tick get it pushed to the top.

The internet used to be a place of so many different sites, but these days 98% of traffic is just a handful of few big tech sites/apps.

Ya I doubt it's going to last. People are always complaining about Twitter but they're still on there finding stuff to complain about. They do a lot of their complaining about Twitter on Twitter as well. It just makes them look silly imo. Go if you're going and don't make such a big deal about it.

People tend to gravitate towards whatever platform suits its not like you’re tied to any of them mountain out of a molehill!

Makes it seem like twitter really isn't going anywhere when people are spending their time saying how they won't use twitter and how bad it is.

If it was indifference it would be a different story.

As if the facebook clone will be any different if it gets any significant market share. Because facebook is such an unproblematic space.

It depends what you want to use the platform for. It's hard enough to replace Twitter. Whatever alternative you use is very unlikely to have every account you followed on Twitter.
