Never get why father's name their sons after themselves. Its so needy

Me either...I follow an american girl who has triplets, they couldn't agree on names when they were born so said the mam could name the 2 girls and the dad could name the boy.....out of all the names the father named the son after him ....it's just so boring and the two girls have beautiful names..

My husband is named after his dad and my cousin after his dad. I just don’t get it, then all the junior and senior crap

It was grand back in the 50s and 60s when the majority of boys names were Patrick or John and girls were Mary or Margaret and there wasnt much variation in names. Nowadays there is no excuse for it except for when naming a child after a family member that has passed away which is a completely different story.

I knew a family and they had 2 kids a boy and a girl, the boy was named after the dad And the girl after the mother

I know a family that did this aswell. Two kids (one boy, one girl) and both named after the parents. But the parents split when the boy was less than one and it was really acrimonious. The mother changed the name of the boy to his middle name so he was no longer named the same as the Dad. So confusing trying to get used to calling him a different name after almost a year of having one name. Everyone made many slip ups for the first few months and she would kill us if we even mentioned the fathers name.

Id say that mother loves yous all calling him young Séan! My son is Pauric Óg after his dad and the main reason the Óg is there is to stop people calling them young and old or big and small. Although he is 11 now and most people have dropped the Óg except family and my friends. Teachers, his friends and sports clubs all just call him Pauric. It drives me mad!!

She’s never said anything if it does annoy her but Sèan is in his late 20’s now and nobody other than her ever used the Òg even his father says young Sèan. So am I’m right in saying the Òg is added when a son is named after his father, wonder why she added it to Fionn

She added the óg in in recent years. Wasn't on her Facebook profile until recently, she had Fionn and ER on her bio.
She only recently changed it.
And used to be Julie Haynes, and changed herself to Julie Jay Haynes

She’s such a tool Julie Jay in the early days she used to just say Erin I can’t stand double barrel names also no offence to anyone but I can’t stand the trend of adding Mae to every girls name either it’s not unique at all. Adding the Óg is just ridiculous especially as he isn’t junior to anyone
