Great AA final. Loved how close to the wire it came at the end, waiting for the final results to come in. Really exciting. Did feel sorry for Jade waiting to go while they were celebrating, but pleased she was able to compete - I loved her floor routine!

Delighted for Sunisa Lee! So well deserved. Great gymnast.

Also pleased to see decent coverage of both GB girls even if we did have to wait for it. \

Yes they don't have any control of the footage so I'd assume this is the case.

There were a few times where it didn't cut to Simone and they still mentioned it. Also, even if it cuts to the spectator stands where she is they don't have to mention that she's there as a few different girls were there also watching
 
Naomi and Simone are not the first. After the last olympics, Maddie Hinch, the ladies hockey keeper and gold medalist was being touted as the best keeper in the world- she’s since been quite open about how this affected her, to the point she took a break from international hockey and played in a foreign league to try and fall back in love with the sport after having so much pressure from the media and herself to be ‘perfect’

I really wish the media would stop putting so much pressure on people the way they do. It clearly does nobody any good

I don't understand why you believe that showing Simone Biles is disrespectful. It's a somewhat strange logic. It would be even more bizarre IMO to not refer to one of the most decorated Olympians in history who has been part of a major story this week and who is right there with the team watching them.

If Christian Eriksen was at Wembley in the semi final of the Euros against England, would it be disrespectful to show him or refer to him?

It is more about how often they did it. Though yes showing her each time someone performed which happened in the team all-round was also disrespectful to the other people competing there who also deserve recognition for what they have done and how well they had coped with the changes

Each or nearly every performance shouldn’t turn into ‘and here is Simone Biles’. It’s honestly disrespectful both to the competitors and her as it’s ultimately putting pressure and spotlight on her once again

If you watch other sports we’re famous and impactful past players appear, they’re at most shown once or twice and no one feels the need to comment that they’re there

I’m not sure the article really talks about it enough but a lot of people think that he was sent an inappropriate shirt on purpose too. Basically a punishment for wearing a black shirt

Olympics is not really meant to be political but it’s honestly sad just how political it can be behind the scenes
 
I don’t see what the issue is of showing Simone and referencing her, she was watching knowing full well she would be filmed and didn’t need to be there, but she was there cheering on her team mates!

Shame the other team GB gymnasts have already come back to the uk!

The same happened every time Usain Bolt ran. BBC did a ‘BoltDown’ (countdown) til his race and it was always about him. I know he didn’t drop out and stay and watch but similar idea- the star of the show (unsure if to use that term here but meh) gets all of the limelight and everyone else is background noise
 
Anyone staying up to see the eventing dressage? I’m debating watching the first few and then trying to sleep as I have a meeting in the morning. But I may also end up watching all the way through 😆
Totally forgot about the cross country on Saturday night and have to do some family things on Sunday… definitely staying up for it though so Sunday is going to be a painful day 😂

Not showing any equestrian events on my planner for tonight, what time does this start please?

Love the equestrian events but I think my favourite is the track cycling events, always some drama and really nail biting.

OT seems to be really moving in his seat?! Never seen him bounce around so much! His saddle doesn’t seem to fit either. The lovely Balleymoor Class really trying.
