Unpopular opinion, but it just seems to me that since Simone Biles' first vault didn't go the way she wanted it to, she threw a wobbly and stormed out. I feel bad for her team mates, because they were dumped right in it. Is there pressure on her? Yes, but there's pressure on ALL of the team, not just her.

Congratulations to the British team, though; totally out of nowhere for a well deserved Bronze!
I totally agree, a bit unprofessional.

Simone Biles is going to get flack for being on the medal podium isn’t she 😬

I guess she would get flack either way. The armchair gymnasts and trainers will all go for her but she has had a lot of pressure put on her and after a not so great day the other day I think it has probably all taken it’s toll. Such a shame, I really feel for her.

all their first times at olympics too competing against horses who could do this in their sleep!!! amazing job, super proud to be a brit who also does dressage💙

💯%

I used to do low level dressage. I really hope I can get back to it and get back to riding soon 🤞🏼 I love producing young ponies but think I want to get something already backed and with the basics down so that I back riding, bring them on and get out competing.

When watching skateboarding I was shocked they weren’t all wearing helmets. Sky Brown the 13year old GB skateboarder in the next skateboarding event has been in a coma previously due to a fall from skateboarding, shows how dangerous is can be
The street competitors under 18 have to wear helmets, the over 18s have the choice. They know how to “fall” most of the time but you’re right in saying that it’s very dangerous and there’s always that % chance that how they fall won’t go to plan!

The argument is that a lot of these people are experienced so know how to fall safely and over the age of 18 so take their own liability if something goes wrong
Though, imo the main problem is that this is probably going to inspire a lot of kids. It's just good to show that you should wear a helmet and normalise it to some extent

I'm not sure if it's the same rules for park skating but it's always good to see Tony Hawk with a helmet on

Lots of horse riders know how to fall but we still wear a hat. It’s only recently that dressage riders have worn peaked hats with a chin strap, previously all dressage riders wore top hats. It was Charlotte du jardin who pioneered this change.

It’s the same with wearing helmets for the trot ups for the horses, most wear flimsy shoes, no gloves and most importantly, no hats! Charlotte Dujardin always wears a hat and I think it’s great that she does. In BHS exams you have to wear hats, boots and gloves when around the horses. I’ve been stood on, almost kicked in the head and got rope burn - PPE always now.

Most skaters in general don’t wear helmets but I think for a high profile event like this and the subsequent spark in interest that it will create for young people to start skateboarding that these competitors should really be wearing helmets to set a good example for all of the viewers at home. It’s their choice whether they want to put theirselves at risk of injury but it’s so important to lead the way for kids coming into the sport and be good role models for safety.
I agree with the above point about tony hawk setting a good example, I have a feeling that the park/vert skaters will be wearing helmets. Tony hawk has always been more of a vert skater and maybe these people will follow his example.

And for the fact that it’s the debut of it! Surely there should have been thoughts about all of this

I read that team GB don’t have a football team competing as they don’t want to mix national teams in other competitions. Could they not say have an all English team one olympics, next Olympics all Welsh and then Scottish the next. Hopefully next time they’ll have one anyway as I think some other sport is having a mix team.
