Unpopular opinion, but it just seems to me that since Simone Biles' first vault didn't go the way she wanted it to, she threw a wobbly and stormed out. I feel bad for her team mates, because they were dumped right in it. Is there pressure on her? Yes, but there's pressure on ALL of the team, not just her.

Congratulations to the British team, though; totally out of nowhere for a well deserved Bronze!

Definitely. USA do have a tendency to pin their gymnastic hopes all on one athlete (previously Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes, Nastia Liukin). I feel the rest of their team (who are all world class) don't get their dues.

I think it was in the Athlete A documentary on Netflix (abuse scandal) that talked about injuries and pressure to perform at all costs. There was also insight into the short career of gymnastics. There really is nothing other than the Olympics and some university teams for gymnastics. That’s why so many gymnasts are teenagers or early 20s max.
You can be a renowned gymnast in your mid to late teens, “age out” of the team, and then what?

What is going on with her?? She doesn't seem focused and into it this year. Maybe been too busy focusing on the new BF and less on training. Made a lot of mistakes etc, not normally like her.
Personally (and totally respectfully!) I’m not sure that’s fair. She’s always been a very committed gymnast, but I’d suggest this is the most in the spotlight she’s been since the sexual abuse stuff all came to light, and everyone knowing about something so deeply traumatic that happened to you while you perform on the world’s stage has to be very uncomfortable. Athletes are built very differently too, it’s not like she’s usually uncomfortable with pressure, I’m just sorry to see her not performing her best. Fingers crossed she can rally for the individual finals.

When I left to take the dog out GB girls were 5th or 6th and I get home and they’ve won bronze?! Awesome!

I know nothing about dressage but gutted for the team slipping from silver to bronze.
I just went to have a shower and by the time I came back they had a medal 😤😂

I love gymnastics but it scares the hell out of me. What if they fall or miss calculate something and end up smacking the bar. I mostly watch in awe because I know you’d need a ton of upper body and core strength

A cousin of an acquaintance was training the other week and fell on her neck. She ended up on a ventilator in hospital, although I believe she’s on slow road to recovery now 😔

I mentioned the other day about the Russian athletes and was also talking to my sister about it. She sent me this, the team GB app doesn’t acknowledge them in the medals table 😂
