How was Saville so protected? I'd imagine if you answer that you'll be close the answer you seek. Scholfield presumably makes ITV a lot of money, that's what most things boil-down to in commercial media, ethics and morals are a long way down the list (see Ant McPartlin). If viewers go away and advertising revenue drops then he'll either go, be pushed, or paid off.

I think one huge problem at ITV is they've spent so long nurturing and reusing the same old faces for years and years now, that the pool of possible replacements is very small. Doesn't help that the BBC have done much the same, there aren't even any big names in light entertainment to bother poaching. Both channels need to do a far better job of promoting talented and liked young presenters up from the regions.

Anyway I bet We Buy Any Car are thanking their lucky stars that they ditched Schofe after queuegate battered his popularity!

That it's a pile of shite? 🧐 Well, ITV Daytime anyway. I caught the awful Ranvir Singh this morning after the US reporter vox-popped a couple of lunatics in New York waiting for Trump ... "Ooooh" she cooed, "Americans really ARE angry aren't they". Give me strength, two people who clearly have some 'issues' don't constitute US opinion. It's this kind of bollocks that drive me potty because some viewers probably believe this shite, just as they believe Philth is somehow 'brave'. ITV Daytime (Light Entertainment) is toxic across the board imo and it needs a massive overhaul.

I feel for whoever is having to spend their Easter weekend monitoring This Morning’s Twitter.

Riot police had to get called out to a theatre in Manchester last night because people thought they could sing better than the stars of The Bodyguard. Reports say that This Morning and Alison/Vanessa’s comments were mentioned to front of house staff as a justification

They shouldn’t have said it: I know a good amount of performers in the west end and one of my regular haunts when I lived in London was jersey boys. The amount of times etiquette just wasn’t there is ridiculous and they just laughed at it. Went right off dermot since he started this morning

A statement from Allisson regarding something she said about singing in theatres. 🙄 This is what is wrong with cancel culture. Any conflicting opinions have to be apologised for and retracted. It's not that deep. Some people are offended by everything.

Her/Vanessa and Dermot were all in the wrong though, Dermot laughing his way through the segment was disgusting.

They were advocating for sheer disrespect of professional performers. It's was so wrong. And it absolutely is something she should retract.

You don't go to the theatre to see a musical and want to listen to audience members singing over the cast - and by Vanessa's comments, singing the wrong words.

Theatre is expensive to watch, it deserves respect to the professional performers and to the fellow audience members paying a lot of money to see a show.

This isn't about cancel culture, it's calling out the bullshit they were peddling on This Morning and having respect for professional performers.

Nothing to do with cancel culture its to do with respect for the actors and fellow audience. I love going to the theatre but it's expensive and I don't expect to have Joan beside me singing off key while I have professional singers on stage. If I go to the ballet I'm not going to try pirouette out of my seat, or to a play I'm not going to stand at the side of the stage and out act everyone on it!! It's the same principle at a musical, it's not a concert or karaoke.
