This Is Going To Hurt - BBC

Loved this, but it was so dark! It feels like required watching for anyone who uses the NHS (excepting anyone who is triggered by birth stuff) I’m glad I watched but would love if I could just forget about it 😂😞 Shruti broke my heart, she’s one of those characters and storylines that will just stay with you forever. I actually cried when she was treating the patient from the private hospital because I was so proud of her 😩😢

I've been Mumsitting whilst she has covid (basically I've been a walking teasmade), and we've watched this and Bodies. I really loved this - and Shruti and her story was heartbreaking. I worked in a hospital and it all felt very true to life, and was actually a bit triggering in a way that I hadn't thought it would be, and after the last episode I sat and had a little cry.

On the other hand I'd forgotten how much graphic sex there was in Bodies, which made for some uncomfortable moments sat next to mum!

My consultant came in today talking about the show, he was a registrar in an nhs hospital in 2006 and he said for the most part it’s really accurate. The sleep depriving, blood soaked scrubs, work load, bullying, mean consultants. I was pleased (that sounds like the wrong word lol) to know it was an accurate depiction!

I was so gutted about Shruti she seemed to have found her feet and had the makings of a very good Dr. The woman consultant reminds me very much of a director I knew in the Civil Service years ago her whole persona could have been based on him.
