And she’s perfectly at liberty to.
No more free houses, clothes, food, foreign trips. No more “working”whenever she likes knowing the bills will be paid anyway.
I don’t think there’s a hope in hell she’ll quit. She wants to have her free cake and eat it and that’s exactly what she’ll continue to do. It’s not as though we can vote her out is it?

Well, despite her treatment for cancer, she appeared well enough to receive that standing ovation 🙄 at Wimbledon. I do know chemo is hideously draining, but at certain times Catherine seems able to attend events on demand, other times ... not so much 🤷🏻‍♀️

Perhaps a whole year away from duties would have been better, rather than cherry-picking the fun ones?

Her parents are millionaires and her husband inherited millions from his mother. She’s never going to have to give up her lifestyle.

What makes you think by quitting public life she'd be giving all that up?
 
I can't believe what I am reading. That woman has been fighting cancer for the last year. And a condition which required her to have surgery in the first place which had her admitted to hospital for two weeks.

And you are discussing her work in the last year. Unbelievable.

Can she recover in peace from her surgery and her chemo treatment for cancer.

Also there is always someone who is better of then you or worse for that matter. That's life.

Remember all the "where is Kate" clamouring in the media though? It was crazy intense.

She probably did want to take a whole year out but was pressurised to appear.

I wonder if she is more ill than we have been told and that maybe she has to wear a colostomy bag or similar and her appearances have been managed because of that?
The microscopic scrutiny she is under must be an added pressure and if she does need a bag, theres the phsycological impact of adapting to it as well as the physical.

Then there's all the media comments about how she looks etc.
She's drained from her cancer treatment, and has all of that to deal with plus three kids.

She's welcome to the wealth and privilege for handling all of that.

“Public life” is her job isn’t it. So how can she expect to have the perks without the work? It would be like me quitting my job and still expecting to be paid my wages.
I wouldn’t blame her at all if she buggered off. I mean I know she’s loaded and waited on hand and foot but it looks a pretty miserable existence to me.
 
They alternate the couple who goes to the royal variety every year between Charles and Camilla, Will and Kate and Edward and Sophie. Will and Kate went last year, it was the first appearance for them after the reveal of the "royal racist" in Omid's book. This year was Charles and Camilla's turn but Camilla pulled out last minute due to still recovering from the chest infection, which at her age can knock you for six. Kate didn't just decide not to go, she was never meant to go even if she had been well

Her main job is to raise the heir to the throne.
She's also married to the current heir. She shares his perks. Many wives of rich men do.

I have a friend who had breast cancer and even 12 years cancer free her stamina is shot and she gets sick all the time. We do not know anything about Kate's health apart from "big operation followed by cancer". Just because she was put in a dress to wave from a balcony and was well enough to watch a tennis match doesn't mean anything.

Her job is to give birth to an heir and a spare.
Yes it is antiquated and medeival, but it's still basically that.

When Di married Charles it was all "she's just a brood mare." It's still like that really.

Apparently she has a nanny and admin staff but at home, she does the cooking etc and tries to keep the home life less grand.
I'm sure she has cleaners too but I think she is still a hands on Mum.
That can only be a good thing.

I don't know, he doesn't look great. My dad has been through two major surgeries, including one for bladder cancer, and he is 78 and gets complimented on how he doesn't look 78 (which I'd argue, even if a bit bias, is true) and yet Charles has the best of everything, including food, housing, medical treatment etc, yet looks very much his age, if not worse.

I do feel for the guy, though. Going through cancer treatment, or getting surgery for it, takes a toll on both the person on the receiving end, and people close to them. I know my stress and anxiety levels were awful while my dad was going through cancer treatment and surgery. I hope he recovers well, but he should really stop making all these appearances and rest for a while.
 
My gut feeling with Charles is that they are taking a management rather than cure approach. Even so it isn't a death sentence, they could easily have told him he could go another 10 years etc. Whereas with Kate I think it was a harsh blast to get rid of it before it could do more damage etc. I think her treatment has potentially been more gruelling than Charles, hence the two different approaches. Not to mention he is head of state and she is not.
