These are two different things.

SH was rude (potentially racist) and there were consequences.
NF went public and talked about her experience of racism at BP on TV and social media.

There is something about how and when this incident was made public that doesn't sit right with me.
NF said the BRF did not reach to her. Why did she not reach out to them to address the issue, instead of tweeting it?

This is what I would have done. If someone / an employee or a representative of an organisation is mistreating me, I raise it with the organisation first.

She's in her element doing the media rounds...despite being traumatised and a shy and retiring innocent victim who was helpless and just had to stand there and keep silent.

Well, BP has an address and a phone number. And there will be someone who managed the event she attended?
She could have approached a staff member and asked who she could complain to about the treatment she has received.
NF set up a charity, she should know how to approach people and organisations.

If she wanted to approach Camilla, who she stood close to, she could also have addressed her with "Her Majesty", instead of calling her "Cam" as you suggested.

Of course it is "up to her" if she wanted to tweet, but I wonder what she wanted to achieve.
Especially as she also said that she would have wanted BP to "reducate" SH instead of letting her go - how should BP know what she wants if she doesn't talk to BP? Does BP have a crystal ball?

Her way of dealing with it seems to me (my opinion) to be tailored towards bringing negative attention and further allegations of racism against the BRF, especially in light of NF's earlier tweets (eg about the balcony appearance being racist).
Well, if SH hadn’t been rude, then she wouldn’t have had anything to work with and there would have been nothing to achieve.
the negative attention was brought because someone whose job it is (and has been for 60+ years) to meet and greet, make polite conversation and read conversational cues … didn’t
But we’re just going round in circles now.

Much ado about nothing, the Susan Hussey incident I mean. The woman who was offended obviously has heritage from a place other than the UK, why didn't she say "I'm from x here in England and my family originated in x". No instead there was controversy to be made. I certainly don't agree with the hair touching however.

Obviously has heritage from a place other than the UK?
What does that mean? That a person WHO WAS BORN HERE isn’t properly British?
Jesus bleeping wept.

I would not call it an attack. Lady Hussey worded her questioning wrong, which is unusual for an educated and high class person. What she was trying to say was "where is your ancestry from?". Yes, Lady Hussey should have dropped the subject when NF gave a hint but at a party, in high spirits, maybe after some wine or other drink, it can be hard to read people.

There’s so much going around on SM it’s hard to gauge what they’re like on a personal level, I’d hope the girl that tweeted about being turned away from the refuge wasn’t trying to point score that would be awful, same if she was telling the truth, there’s reports N F was mic’s up if that’s true then there needs to be a proper investigation imo.

Of course she is British but she has a connection to another place, as evidenced in her clothing and the colour of her skin. Hence the curiosity.
I stand out a mile in countries that are inhabited predominantly by dark skinned people. My Grandmother was born in Pakistan to a white couple, complicated connections to the place, anyhow as I child I visited and my red hair gave rise to much commentary.

Lady Hussey was wrong in her comments certainly but if a white person in say South Africa or Singapore had been asked where they really came from would there also have been a fuss?

There wouldn't be. Maybe that has something to do with the persecution people of colour have experienced through the centuries but my point still stands. SH was certainly wrong and Ms Fulani is milking it now.

Given that Sadiq Khan said that white people shouldn't be working in certain jobs and there were no repocussions, I doubt it. 🙃🙃

Apparently "Sistah Spaces" wasn't even directly invited, I read somewhere that another charity invited them to come along. Not sure if this is true.

But still, as the founder of an organisation (Sistah Spaces) I would go to the other organisation (BP) first before complaining on Social Media about mistreatment.
I find it kind of unprofessional?

If it would be Sky Television and one of their advertisers, would the representative of the advertising firm tweet it? Surely, they would go to Sky TV first to complain?

No one is owed someone else's full heritage or genealogy. No matter whether it is "obvious" their ancestors didn't originate in the UK. Like wtf.

It IS racist because it's precisely about how someone looks and implying that if you look a certain way, you're not British enough, you don't fully belong.

Once the woman said she was from Hackney, that should have been it. You're not entitled to anything else, to dig and "uncover" some foreign ancestry, no matter how "obvious." (Which is disgusting. What is obvious in such a globalized world? Anyone can be from anywhere.)

I have never been asked where I'm REALLY from, for example. Because I fit into what White looks like. Even when I'm not fully White. It's absolutely racist to ask someone where they're reaaaallly from based on looks or an accent.

The RF needs to evolve with the times. Retire all the dinosaurs before they continue making gaffes that make the entire RF look out of touch. People overlooked a lot with QUeen Elizabeth because she was an icon. Charles and Camilla, William and Kate, won't get such free passes.

Why was the lovely British visitor, who was "attacked" by an 87-year-old woman, dressed like she was in a mall with her teen pals on a weekend in summer? Sleeveless?? What kind of shoes was she wearing? Flip flops? Sandaled bare feet? Seems rude to me for her to show up at a palace like that. Any girl dressed like that would have been "carded" by staff. Any race and either sex. Am I right?

Are you feeling okay? Did you forget the <sarcasm> tag?

I think she’s milking it because she didn’t expect it to go so viral, but it’s causing more people to try and pick holes in it or question why it was wrong. Even down to her saying in her original statement that she felt so awkward that she just stayed at the side until she could go and couldn’t speak to Camilla, it’s gone so viral people have now found that to not be true, there are several pictures of her talking to Camilla and networking with other women. Is there a problem to exaggerate and tell a little white lie? Maybe not, but when it’s easy to prove it’s a lie it can invalidate your entire point, as is now happening from some people.
