The Last of Us - HBO & Sky Atlantic

They aren't even zombies! Its more akin to 28 Days Later. Another great take on humans being utter cunts. I bark on about David but he's the worst human being in TLOU lore. And a prime example of what its about. A human doing evil unspeakable things because he "has to, to survive"

I enjoyed the Ellie & Riley episode and didn’t think of it as filler. It explored Ellie’s character and gave a bit more context to her situation and who she is. Not forgetting that it’s the moment that started all this.

Thought the acting was brilliant especially Ellie’s reaction to getting bitten vs Riley’s. It stayed very faithful to the dlc it is based on apart from a few very minor changes. I’m now fully convinced that Bella is TV Ellie. She’s brilliant. Storm Reid as Riley was also brilliant. They’re both very talented young actors.

Can’t wait to see Troy Baker’s appearance in the next episode. I’m loving how they got some of the cast from the games in to play side roles and one person reprising their original role from the game. It’s a fun Easter egg for fans of the game and so far they’ve all been amazing in their roles.
I agree, I enjoyed the episode - but also I didn't play the game so new information for me. I enjoyed seeing Ellie as a carefree adolescent for a moment. I loved Riley's character too.

I really liked the relationship between Riley and Ellie. I just think we had a bit of a one-time crash course on it so it’s harder to appreciate what she meant to Ellie and the parallel between what happened there and what Ellie fears is gonna happen with Joel. I feel you need to get to know someone first and see the relationship a bit more before you can appreciate the loss fully. That’s how I felt anyway 🤷‍♀️

Bill and Frank were mentioned a few times (and presented as important characters) before we met them and then we saw their relationship pan out over the years. Riley had been mentioned before but it was easy to miss. We also thought Joel and Ellie would meet up w B&F, which made how Ep 3 ended even more impactful. I would’ve liked to see Ellie and Riley meet and their relationship build over time. Doing it over a few eps would’ve made it feel different to B&F’s story and left a little more room for this last episode to show Ellie getting Joel someplace safe, which again would’ve highlighted the similarities w what happened w Riley. I don’t think that would’ve been a massive deviation from the game & it wouldn’t have needed to be action packed.

Again I still really rate it and enjoy it but that’s just my 2 cents. Who knows, maybe the next episode will balance it out perfectly!

I enjoyed the episode but it just left me with more questions! Like, what happened when Riley turned and Ellie didn’t, did Ellie have to kill Riley? At what point did Ellie realise she was immune and wasn’t turning? How did marlene find out about Ellie being immune? I wonder if we will see that in the coming episodes or not. I haven’t played the games but my partner has and he is good at not spoiling it for me!

Yes, She killed Riley. At least that's how I took it in the game. And you'll just have to see! I'm really hoping its not rushed.

Good qs!! I don’t think they’d leave significant loose ends like this so you’d think however it pans out, it’ll be covered. I’m looking forward to seeing how the writers play it

If I remember correctly, Ellie said it wasn't the first time she's killed someone in a previous ep? That comment came to mind after they'd been bitten, but just a guess!

Haha same - my partner is very good at holding his tongue and enjoys watching with someone who knows nothing.
He did let out a small gasp in the village, I think someone peeked around a pillar? He seemed excited by that, meaningless for me atm - intrigued to find out!

If he felt the same rush as i did when that happened, he has AMAZING willpower to not spoil that for you   Luckily, my partner loves the game as much as I do so I haven't had to bite my tongue for the past 7 weeks!

I enjoyed the episode, spectacularly acted and I cried, again, 7/7 - every week - but I felt the modern day splicing from the game interwoven with the flashback really was missed.
I know that's pure gameplay and I get why it was more streamlined but I would have liked a little more context as to why Ellie was going back to Riley in her mind. The parallel malls is really clever to me. Here it felt a little random.

It made her saving Joel feel very rushed and I feel we didn't spend enough time with her in "hero mode" which is an important part of her character.
I didn't feel it was filler whatsoever, as I love Left Behind and I wish it was just part of the full game.
I have no idea how they're going to play out everything that's coming in two more episodes.
Excited for Troy - buddy boy over there. Eep.

My husband has played the game and he was really looking forward to it.
We’ve watched the first two episodes and aren’t really feeling it. I don’t feel anything towards the characters. There’s just something about it that’s not clicking with me.

How’s he feeling towards it? I would persevere if I was you. I’m in a similar boat where my partner played the game and I wasn’t sure I’d be interested but it’s really grown on me

That episode was haunting. I knew, KNEW that if they adapted David, it'd be triggering. I sat there in tears. I loved it. One more Ep to go! And I know how it'll make me feel lol.
