For this week's Memory Monday, we remember when Rachel from the Unique Fam channel put up a video in 2021 - 'Why don't you do' Smug Sarah' skits anymore? Answering your questions UNCUT HONEST SHOCKING'. In it, she explained why she and her daughter Eleanor had stopped making the 'Smug Sarah' videos. Most of you will know that in these videos, Rachel and her daughter made skits which were based on Sarah and Creepy. The skits were very funny and the two of them has a lot of fun making them. Rachel explained that what they were doing was similar to what other comedians did - ie doing impressions of people and exaggerating their features and personality traits.
Along with receiving a lot of praise for their videos, they also sadly received a lot of hate. Rachel said that the ifam left nasty, hurtful comments, including sickening comments about 12 year old Eleanor. After they received many death threats
, they went to the police who told them that nothing could be done as they "weren't serious death threats and were just things that people say"
.
Rachel carried on making the videos as she and her daughter enjoyed making them and they did not want to give in to the bullies. However, she said that then there was a big campaign to find out their home address. She said that a family member of the Ingham family was particularly interested in getting it. Unfortunately, Rachel accidentally left her address on display in one of her videos and then more awful things started happening to her and Eleanor.
Rachel said that a nasty account on twitter, who claimed that he was working for the Ingham Family, started saying that he was going to go to social services about Rachel's parenting of her daughter. Social services began to receive many phone calls. In the calls the anonymous person would tell them about how Eleanor was mistreated and that she was forced to make the Smug Sarah videos. Social services came out and wanted to speak to Eleanor on her own, which was, of course, very distressing for her. Rachel was very upset too as she had always thought of herself as a fantastic mum who would do anything for her children (which of course she was) and now social services were interviewing her daughter. The social worker went away completely satisfied that the allegations were false but it was a really upsetting thing for Eleanor and Rachel to go through.
In addition to the false accusations made to social services, reports were also made to the RSPCA about their treatment of their dogs. Two people from the RSPCA turned up at their door saying that they had had a report that their dogs were really matted. They inspected the dogs, saw that they certainly weren't matted and agreed that it was a false accusation.
On Eleanor's 13th birthday, she got a birthday card through the post. Rachel was in another room when Eleanor opened it but came dashing in when she heard Eleanor scream
. Inside the card was a piece of paper with the words 'The game is over. You are under surveillance 24/7'. Eleanor was understandably terrified and extremely upset. She was so scared that someone would come to the house and attack them that Rachel felt that there was no option but to move house. She said that even though they had moved, Eleanor was still terrified of the sender of the card finding out where they had moved too
. How could anyone send that card to a 13 year old girl? Absolute sicko
. Rachel was accused by an Ingham family member of making it all up and of course, Rachel was appalled that anyone would think she would do that to her own precious daughter.
A further thing which happened was that a long, anonymous letter was sent to the managing director of Rachel's ex partner, accusing him doing horrible things. None of it was true and luckily the managing director saw what was happening to the family and didn't believe anything that was written in the letter. It was very upsetting for the ex partner though, who could have lost his job.
Rachel went on to say that they had had eggs thrown at their house and nails put under their car tyres, in order to puncture them. Rachel said that an ex friend of Sarah's (I'm guessing that she must have meant Nikki) had said that she also had had nails put under her car tyres, after she had fallen out with Sarah. They also received many prank calls, which must have been horrible for them to receive.
Lastly, Rachel said another part of the hate campaign was that people were desperately trying to find out where she worked. Someone put the address of where she worked in a comment on a youtube video and people were encouraged to ring up Rachel's employers, in order to try and get her sacked. Luckily, they put the wrong address up. Rachel spoke about how awful it wold have been for her and Eleanor if people had rang the right company, made things up and got her the sack.
Rachel said that her videos were just light-hearted fun and that they were never intended to cause any harm or upset. What her and her young daughter received for making the videos was absolutely appalling and must have been tremendously distressing. What a shame that the perpetrators never received any justice and that Rachel was forced to move house because of it
. At least her and her daughter seem so, so much happier now than Jane, Chris or Sarah.
