To be fair, it’s no different than how they did decoration in the past, it’s just different materials. At least he’s trying to do something harder than picking up auction purchases. I think he’s one of the more talented owners compared to everyone else. They also planted their own garden, fixed their pointing themselves, sand and seal everything, and run new electrics and water.

I've only seen a few of her vids and she definitely is 'out there' which tbh I don't mind, she appear to get lost a lot on her travels but good on her for going it alone... she bagged herself a not too shabby bloke too... I don't think she will ever be dull.

It's all a bit iffy... Princess said he fell and the drill (still spinning) went into his hand. Usually when using a drill don't you press the trigger whilst screwing or unscrewing and release the trigger when done, therefore I would think if you were to fall then your finger would automatically release the trigger thus ceasing the action of the drill. Wasn't it his right hand that was bandaged which begs the question if he is right handed how did he drill into his predominant hand...his left hand yes maybe but not the hand holding the drill...

OT: With all of this talk of advent calendars, I will admit I ordered a few (non, not for YOU Fanny :ROFLMAO:), but for my niece and nephew who are in primary school. They make some really fun ones for kids! I mean, 24 days of miniature Breyer horses? Daily science experiments? A STEM rocket building kit? There is even a Lego one! They have certainly come a long way from the waxy chocolate advent calendars of disappointment that littered our youth.

You were lucky to get waxy chocolates. In 1960s England we got excited to open a window and see a picture of a tiny star or reindeer 😄 🤣 😂
 
I’m still a little behind, on page 28 of 32 right now, I finally made it all the way through the “sickbed” episode. This has bothered me for a while, but what’s up with Gerry’s eyes? Is he a robot, wearing the worst quality & fitted contact lenses ever or what? I’ve never seen anyone look like that in real life. Also, that ep really sucked the life force out of me. I would post a screenshot of Gerry’s face for reference, but meh.🤷‍♀️

I admire their work ethic but their taste is off. The cement paver edging in the garden is awful to say the least. All of the exterior white paint (even on ironwork) and the new cement block and stucco entrance “gateways” look ultra cheap. They are renovating the chateau the way someone from Coronation Street would. 😂

Gays without taste…such a tragedy.

Honestly, I was eyeing the Demel or Sprüngli advent calender. "Sadly", I ended up spending that money on a trip to Aachen instead. Oh well, next year.

It's autumn, not winter. They do have heating in the chateau, central heating isn't the only form of heating, and you saw the chimney being swept. She explained that she has been susceptible to these colds for many decades, long before moving to the chateau.

I do think sometimes Stephanie you don’t wear enough warm clothes especially in the mornings when you go outside in nightwear and slippers plus the Chateau is not a warm place. By now I would have thought the heating would be up and running. I suspect there is some mystery behind this which is not suitable for the vlog.

@mariac4602 fanny does not have a carefree attitude. Everything is planned. She planned to be in bed when the chimney sweeps arrived. She definitely knew they were coming which is why she was in bed, probably only expected one, two was a bonus. She needs content, and for you saddo's this is great content. And she needs drama, the drama of you saddo's in the comments talking about it. It pushes up her ratings. Everything is planned.

The rest of you, she thrives on your sympathy. She won't like your suggestions of getting the heating finished and up and running. Too many of those comments will get you banned.

And the same calendar came out every year. Between 3 kids. My mother was so mean. The thought of buying a new one every year sent her into a fit of the vapours. And she thought we didn't notice. It wasn't even her sticking the little doors back on with sellotape that gave it away!

A tiny bit of the gardens, a lot of showing the (very tempting!) array of goodies sold in the Highgrove shop and much too much mutual appreciation society, cross-pollinating, cosy chats with another vlogging/IG couple. It was only “exclusive” in the sense that Highgrove obviously held some sort of private, invitation only event as a PR do for vloggers whose profiles fit Highgrove’s marketing brief. King Charles was not present!

Julie presentation style is immensely irritating and I *literally* bristle when I see her. Such a shame because some of her content is really interesting. Were it not for her persona, I would watch the Mapperton channel and also the American Viscountess series.. There’s another irritation…her repeated reminders to her audience that she’s American (she’s meyimes adding “who married into the British aristocracy) drives me *literally* round the bend. We get the message, Lady Hingingbrooke. Hush, milady.

She also shoehorns references to Mapperton and the estate into her commentary or conversations. Rather like SJ with her rumbling farmhouse! At least Mapperton has genuine depth to its history!!

(in my defence, i watched the video only because I have very fond memories of visiting Highgrove with my late mama!)

I carry on with the old trout as it's now just car crash viewing and something I can shout at. Plus I like it here with all the normal people. ;) :LOL:

everytime I come from vacation where I do every activity imaginable and eat everything fancy in sight I come home and pretend to be sick so I can recuperate from my vacation while being catered on .... bravo, another fantastic life hack (scam)
