Unfortunately, Hurricane Milton is now heading towards the west coast of Florida and residents are being warned to start preparing for it's arrival mid-week. Thinking of all our Floridian tattlets. Also, has there been any word from @T Rex recently? Guess she's involved with the neighbourhood cleanup but, if you have time, do check in x
Hope you are feeling better soonI've been ill the last few weeks so haven't had the energy yet to sit through this week's patreon vlog. Sorry! Hopefully tomorrow

An idea so brilliant I've had it myself. She could run George Sand conferences at Lalande. It would make money. But it would be work.I was watching Julie Andrieu’s « At the table of George Sand » where Julie and guests prepare a feast à la George Sand. It gave me an idea…an idea la Jarvis should have had years ago as an activity for Patreon Day.
First, a visit of Sand’s chateau, only 24 minutes away from Lalaland. Return to The Dump for a lunch à la Sand. Visit of Lalaland’s current projects followed by Jarvis reading chosen Sand texts and/or Phi Phi playing Chopin on the piano.
It could be a good challenge for whoever prepares the food on that day. Phi Phi would have to practice and work on his Chopin. Jarvis likes to read out loud and educate the masses.
The theme of George Sand on Patreon Day offers a richer vision of the Dump and its region.
Sending you big hugs and healing vibes ♥I've been ill the last few weeks so haven't had the energy yet to sit through this week's patreon vlog. Sorry! Hopefully tomorrow

What a gorgeous rose Pekey.I picked my first pink rose of the season just now ...... David Austin's Princess Alexandra of Kent.
PinkRoses - I thought of you while cutting it and putting it into my vase.
I do believe we both love roses that are pink the best.
Hey Gertie...... how was that rain last night!!!! Well, good for the roses.
Another hurricane for Florida! Hang tight and I hope it passes you all by!

We only had 1.2 mms overnight, however, we had 29 mms last week.
It's a funny old day today, almost 18C, rather windy, sunny . . . not sunny, and humid.
More rain on the way tomorrow thank goodness. We need more rain to set us up for Summer. It was a dry Winter up here and a so so Spring so far.
My first rosebud to bloom is Ophelia.
What a gorgeous rose Pekey.
T Rex, you and your husband are to be commended for all the assistance you're providing your neighbours. I can't imagine the dread you felt upon hearing the news of Hurricane Milton's impending approach. Here's hoping Milton takes a more southern path, but do heed any evacuation announcements and please don't try to ride out the storm. Stay safe and our thoughts & prayers are with you.

I thought of you immediately when I saw a text come up with this news about the newest hurricane. If I was shocked, I know you were when you heard about it. One moment, everything is fine and by the end of the day, it's suddenly being called the worst hurricane to hit Florida in 100 years! Keeping you and Mr. T Rex and the doggies in my thoughts. Please be safe!❤ @C'est moi ! We have been pretty busy helping out with the cleanup. Mr. T Rex purchased a trash pump to help get the mud out of people's in-ground swimming pools- pool companies are charging $3K, so we are doing it for free. We're working long hours, have a few things of our own we need to tackle, but aren't as high of a priority when people have it much worse than us. Our refrigerator has been pretty bare for the last few days (meals are a mish mash of random stuff from the freezer), and we were running low on Gatorade and Miller Lite, so Mr. T Rex sent me out to Sam's Club (our big box store) after I mowed the lawn.
At 2PM when I turned into the parking lot, the place was packed as there was a pending apocalypse. People had their carts full of goods and everyone had paper towels and water. 'Wondered if perhaps they had not gotten the memo the port strike had been cancelled, but heard one person murmur something about "preparing for the storm." Based on the morning news, which stated it would just be a low and rain maker, I surmised they were all just being extra cautious due to "hurricane fatigue" from Helene. Toilet paper was wiped out. People were loading up on cases of water. It was a mad house, with a strange frantic energy. My overflowing buggy was just my normal monthly shopping trip, so just shrugged it off- although there were some strange glances at the cute Halloween decor in my cart, and when I remarked, "Is this not adorable? They are right over there!", those in line looked at me as if I had landed from another planet.
When I returned home, Mr. T Rex had just finished at the neighbours' house, so he took a shower while I put groceries away. My phone began dinging with texts from friends about the pending Hurricane Milton. What the fresh hell...?!? So tomorrow will go from recovery back to storm prep. If it hits Tampa as projected as a Cat 3, we're looking at a higher storm surge than Helene and stronger winds. The county is supposed to start clearing the flood debris (furniture, drywall, etc.) from the curbs on Monday, so hopefully that happens or it will end up in the harbor or as projectiles. We'll be making the evacuation call tomorrow based on the path/strength changes. All we can do is prepare for the worst at this point. Stay safe, my Florida Tartlets. ❤

Yes its been a dry winter but spring is making up for it I think!
Boy it rained here last night.
I had to look up your rose Gertie ...... wow , its a beautiful soft pink climber by Austin. They say it has a good perfume too!!
I have the old fashioned Lamarque rose .... its a super climber (we need to cut it back a lot) beautiful fluffy white roses with a touch of lemon perfume .
If I did not have it ...... I think I would plant your Ophelia !

ETA: I just now got a text from a good friend of mine who is in Seminole County (Winter Springs). She said even they are supposed to get some trouble from this one. She was supposed to be up here visiting this week and had to cancel her trip.
The house down the road had Wedding Day .... it was big but beautiful !Ophelia is a beautiful climbing rose. And the perfume is wonderful. We have two of them side by side in the driveway with the rambler Wedding Day further down. The Wedding Day is quite old with a trunk the size of a small tree.
We may have to cut them down or take them out as they are on a fence along the shared driveway which is where main access to future building work will be. Anyway, we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
