The stealing of religious objects is of course despicable, but stealing from churches also affects the wider community by breaking down the rule of trust and making church authorities more likely to keep churches locked. It is important that churches are open not just for private prayers for believers, but as a refuge for peace and contemplation for anyone in need. They are also the repositories of generations of historic memories and memorials for local people who should be able to visit at will.

Agree re the photo but there are also photos of her having a dinner party there and vlogs about Potty using the chalice on the altar for a clue in one of the party games. Also, the procession of the Moonie wedding coming from the chapel but she would, no doubt, get away with it all, just as Billy will emerge from his grubby past. Those fines mean nothing to him and Gwen; it will be their children who suffer from bullying about their father's reputation. Maybe they will follow in their parents' footsteps, who knows? Crime seems to pay for all these people

Am I the only one not surprised by Billy's actions?
Although we have never lived in a trailer, I do have the similair poor working class background. The childeren I grew up with who lived on the same street as I, have ended up quite like the Pethericks. Wellfare, high teenage pregnancies, run ins with the law. Eventhough they had talents, they didn't use their potential to better their lives. You can detect the sleazyness in the Pethericks flogs. Their lives changed with Gwen.
What I am surprised with is Gwen. She had no reason to steal. I wonder if she ever received a degree. Or how on earth Gwen rubbed shoulders with Billy. My reason for saying this is: my parents used to go to the pub a few streets down, this pub served the locals with similair backgrounds to ours. Never had a millionaire visited the place nor their childeren. Because they do not live in the area, you don't rub shoulders frequently with millionaires when you are living a working class live.
Did Billy find out Gwen was a heirress to a fortune and he went after her? We can say a lot about them but the Pethericks do have good looks.

Potts has not corrected a single lie in the adopt a star scam page on the LieLande site. All 3 co owners were in on the desecration of the chapel for well over a 18 years +, with BDSM style photo shoots, using religious objects as game objects, holding wild parties and treating the chapel and its contents in a disrespectful and trashy manner.
However, they deliberately and intentionally hid this information from the patrons and viewers of the CD diaries, which is dishonest, fraudulent, and lying by omission. I believe that many of the patrons and viewers who purchased a star in the chapel in memory of their beloved grandparents, deceased children, and other religious loved ones would not have done so had they known the real history of the chapel since 2005 and the manner in which has been treated by the three owners of the dump.
Stephanie Jarvis, Michael Potts, and Baghead are all complicit in the failure to reveal the true manner in which the chapel was treated, desecrated, and used as a sacrilegious party pad for years and years since they purchased the Dump in 2005. These same 3 people who treated the chapel poorly and stand to make a windfall in their star scam deliberately with hold this information and exploit the history of the Marquis family and play upon viewer’s religious beliefs to get them to ” buy” a star in a historically insignificant chapel on a historically insignificant farmhouse in France that has been used as a debauched party pad since 2005.
The 3 owners have figuratively spit in the face of all the viewers who “ purchased” a star without full disclosure of the use of the chapel by the 3 partying, disrespectful grifters.They are playing the viewers for fools by not being truthful about how they have disrespectfully used and abused the chapel for the past 17+ years.
Not having this information and full disclosure of the recent use of the chapel by the grifting Dump owners deprived viewers of all the necessary relevant information upon which to base their decision whether to buy a star in the chapel In memory of their cherished loved ones. Do you really think Louise from Arkansas would have purchased 3 stars in memory of her ardently Catholic cherished grandmother to restore the chapel if she had seen this photo or knew how the chapel and its contents had been treated and used since 2005? Doubtful. IMHO, the owners of the Dump are manipulative con artists who are exploiting their religious and grieving viewers to line their own pockets, as usual.Is this a postcard they will receive from the Dump thanking them for their purchase?

If they live in a rural community like we do, guaranteed the gossip mills will be in overdrive and all the other little villages in a 20mile radius will all hear about it. They won't be able to walk into any local shop or business and not get the knowing stares and whispers.
I was really enjoying the convent renovations but this is a massive own goal.

Billy probably decided this is the same as doing the rounds picking up scrap metal (and sometime not so scrap metal!!). A neighbour recently had taken off the double gates for his drive in order to repair the hinges fixed to the wall pillars. He popped inside for a tool and came back in time to see the gypsies loading his gates on to their lorry.
I agree - the Pethericks are a shady lot and a leopard doesn't change its spots and the Trotters have no shame.

Billy has a touch of the Artful Dodger about him, coupled with a good dollop of arrogance. He’ll regard the latest chapter as a mere bagatelle, show no contrition and then wait for publicity to blow over.
His only regret is probably to have been caught. He shrugged off the court martial as if it was of no importance. It would have gone largely unnoticed locally (except perhaps the Brit community who read UK papers ). The difference between the court martial and the case heard earlier this week is that the latter relates to his activities in France. It’s received coverage in the UK press, yes, but coverage in the French press, together with inevitable local gossip, is a different kettle of fish.
The irony is that Billy’s army training is the basis for the discipline he shows in using and maintaining machinery. He doesn’t shy away from hard work and seems to have a decent skill set. His only redeeming features of hard work and “cracking on” with ambitious, complex projects such as the convent, are heavily outweighed by his cavalier, insouciant disregard for authority.
This weeks’s court case wasn’t about an isolated blip born out of “immaturity”. It wasn’t about one opportunistic theft. It appears to relate to a repeated and probably researched pattern targeting churches.

In sales everything is free game! The cigarette lobby knew years in advance that cigarettes were causing cancer, yet this did not hold them back from selling and advertising it. Until the large lawsuits. Everyone knows that cigarettes cause cancer and other ailments but it does not mean people stop smoking. Some people stopped smoking others continue doing so even with this knowledge.

Grew up in a Puritan-inspired church where as I recall there wasn't even a crucifix up on the wall, minimalist for sure. The love of the Catholic church for gold and colonialism is something we all know about; the Buddhists too believe the spirit follows gold or vice versa.
Interesting, some church art grosses me out (Bellini and Bernini, please) and yet Notre Dame and its decor just take me away. Here's a little essay on the medieval interior including the angry nativity on the choir screen which I'm praying survived the fire. Such humanness and wit. One great thing about those cathedrals is when so many Christians lived in dark hovels, they were full of art, color, light, sparkle, incense, bread and wine, like Heaven.
