The Bear - Disney+

I intensely dislike this new girl bought in as the love interest.

Her character was really oddly underwritten - a sort of Manic Pixie Dream Girl with an important high pressure job, yet somehow has all the time in the world to mither Carm and take the day off? I get the impression we aren't supposed to like her.
Similarly Carm's mum seems to be written as some sort of supervillain. If it weren't for Sydney and Tina, I'd have the impression the writers don't like women very much.
LOVED Marcus and Richie's episodes most - SO GOOD!

I’m watching two at a time to drag it out a bit. The next episode is an hour long though so I’m assuming it’s a good one!

i really want to skip her scenes! she’s almost from a different show and completely spoils the vibe.

I don’t think I could take someone called Jeremy seriously in real life, but good lord.

kerrie please it’s too early for me to be having these thoughts 🥵

he’s also got his arms out on the picket line right now:

So happy there's a thread for The Bear!

I decided to watch it after I randomly saw a reel of the Al-Anon monologue on Instagram and thought it seemed interesting - The Bear is one of the best things I've watched this year. I think s2 is even better than s1! Praying for a s3 announcement 🙏🏻

I'm annoyed they've brought in a love interest for Carmy. I actually loved that he was single and so focused on his passion for cooking and career. It'll be interesting to see how he balances it all once the new restaurant opens. I can't see it ending well with them two!

I have the hour-long episode to watch tonight and then Richie's episode which I've heard amazing things about and can't wait for

I don't think season 2 is a patch on season 1 but still enjoying it. Am I the only one who thinks Carmy is ugly AF? Baffled at the comments upthread finding him hot! Sydney and Tina are my favourite characters but I love all of them, bar this doe-eyed new girl who is really poorly written and pretty irritating.

shirtless, or at the very least, a bit sweaty from the kitchen, yes I absolutely would. ANY other time, and now that I’ve seen Richie in a suit, absolutely not.

claire might be my most hated character in anything this year 🤣 she’s so bland and it’s like she’s from another show and has been transplanted into this one - she drags down the mood of every scene she’s in. carmy didn’t need a love interest (unless they finally go there with him and sydney).

if i saw him in real life, i would be very meh. but on the show? big blue eyes on the verge of tears, ARMS, full of barely contained angst?! i am 🫠

I’m sticking with Richie and Sydney to get together. It’ll be terrible but the chemistry any time they are near each other seems too pronounced to be ignored. I love the relationship her and Carmy have though.

yyyeeesss! she and richie have incredible chemistry- i love her and carmy together but i don’t want it to get spoilt.

I’m just watching whatever the episode is called after bolognese, and there’s just been a VERY significant moment early on which I can’t tell if you’re referring to or not!

So interesting, I thought there was a spark between Sydney and Marcus! I really hope they don't pair any of the chefs up though. I like the messy dysfunctional family vibe they have going on!

same! i’m saying all this stuff but i love the show because of its lack of romantic storylines (which is why i think claire bugs me so much). any kind of paring up would damage the vibe.

I was saying this the other day - once you go into the realm of a romantic relationship between two main characters, you can’t go back. It sort of ruins it forever.
I was convinced something would happen on that front in this season, but im glad im wrong. It’s almost like lazy storytelling, to go for the obvious story arc that the viewers want.

I just finished it. The chocolate banana, man.

I think Richie is far too old for Sydney.

Richie still looks like he's been on a week-long round the clock bender, even in a suit 🤣
