The kid tasks are crap - and why do they all come with an app?! I agree with @HairyWeeTerrier that the stipulated demographic made the task almost unachievable

Next week looks - touch wood - somewhat interesting. But, again, there seems to be more tomfoolery than any business

Also, was Bradley about to cry in the boardroom??

I've just about had it with The Apprentice. I haven't watched the latest episode yet but to be honest I haven't watched any of this series live.

The candidates are the worst yet. The tasks are repetitive and I've seen them done way better in previous series. I know the point is that they're supposed to be able to turn their hands to lots of different skills in business but I think when all the candidates are basically the same ie young, no life experience, own their own sweet shop/novelty pyjama business and have never had a proper job or worked in the corporate world, they don't have a good mix of skills to make a success of the task. Half the time, they have never had to lead and manage a team in their normal jobs so is it any wonder they fail so miserably when made profect manager?

We see them fail miserably, time and again, partly due to their own ineptitude but also partly to do with fact that these tasks aren't possible to do successfully in the time frame or with the resources available. The subteam is usually working against the main team, designing something completely at odds with what the main team is trying to market because they can't communicate with each other.

The problem with the show isn't just rubbish candidates, it's the unachievable tasks set by the production team. I'd rather see fewer episodes but longer tasks where they're given a week to properly plan and organise it. A better mix of candidates with a good range of ages and experience. I don't mind that it's for an investment but at the moment I have to suspend disbelief that Lord Sugar actually believes in and wants to invest in these muppets.

Agree totally about the set up tasks being unachievable. It's totally nonsensical that two teams working separately wouldn't be in close contact all the time to discuss details.

It would be much better if we could watch them working in a more normal setting as you say for a longer period of time as it would show who was really pulling their weight and who was just blagging or being an arse.

I think the series in its current format is done now.

What really grinds my gears as well is that they are absolutely rubbish the whole series, and LS/Karen/Tim/Claude have nothing but contempt for them. But then the week before the final they have the show where we get a rundown of the final candidates and all of a sudden they are gushing over how well they managed a particular task and how creative they were! What?! Have I been watching a completely different show?!

This always makes me laugh - and suddenly Karen is going on about how much of a 'strong businesswoman' the women are, whereas before she couldn't find a nice word to say about them!

It annoyed me a little bit that they called out Victoria for 'struggling' in the pitch, just because she stumbled on her words once. The pressure they're under is immense and everyone stumbles their words every now and then, give her a break.

I think the contestants are idiots this year but it’s also edited to make it look that way. They might be “business people” in their own worlds but throw them into the corporate world and they are lost. Most corporate executives couldn’t function as entrepreneurs either- it works both ways. The Apprentice seems to try and mix both worlds and the truth is whilst most of the contestants will do fine with their businesses, throw them into a corporate role with a big salary but bigger expectations and 60 hour working weeks and they’d probably crumble. The interview stage in particular is a toe curling example of this. Not a year goes by when one of them has their plan ripped to shred because the finances don’t add up or they’ve made a stupid statement. A corporate executive would have their presentation water tight having being coached through such processes from being in their early 20s. If you’ve spent your early 20s building up a successful salon for example how many times would you have had to go into a CFOs office to present your financials and understand where you’re likely to get pulled???

You have Karen rolling her eyes at them in disgust but these aren’t people on £200k+ a year with a huge bonus, they’re young people who have started their own business/ early on in their careers who want to do well or get some more social media followers etc. Let’s be honest, anyone with a watertight business plan/ career plan wouldn’t be going on this show making a fool of themselves saying “I’m the James Bond of business” etc.

The pirate reminded me of Mr

I don’t think it helps that the animators “From a top design agency” are completely hopeless/cringe using Ms Paint and clip art. You are set up to look amateur.
My daughter took one look at the treasure chest logo and said she could have done better at the age of 8 😄

Sohail and Bradley are not creative people but both were arrogant enough to think that it was easy. Although I'm not particularly keen on Marnie she was stitched up in that task by them. I do hope she gets her revenge.

Just caught up with the thread. I didn't even know S17 had started. Im all up to date now, having cringed my way through 6 episodes 🙄
So far I like Dani, Marnie. Sad to see Joe leave. I agree with another poster that Brad looks like Rick Astley. I also think Mark is a big Billy Elliot.
Loved seeing Claude, if only briefly.

My son is doing an HND in media broadcast and gets really annoyed about how they make and edit videos. His friend is doing app development and apparently gets really cross and how crap the contestants are.

I actually really like Victoria (I’ve put a picture below as I still don’t know most of their names either). She hasn’t really put a foot wrong.

However, she has “social influencer” in her LinkedIn bio and doesn’t seem to have been in business very long (she was cabin crew until 18 months ago). I get the feeling she’ll be turning up on those hideous “debates” on Good Morning Britain within a few months.

She does talk some sense, she was completely right this week that a caterpillar was more pre-school. Shame no one listens to the ones that talk sense 🤣
