Social media algorithms often favour consistent updating so it’ll be interesting to see how that impacts her reach/engagement. I’ll be surprised if she can pull it off.
Let’s face it influencers’ careers won’t die , when she comes back, she will still be working with Missoma, HF and that razor - those deals are like regular income to them. But I think her views will be pretty much stagnant.

Having a child really was a genious marketing move, I can see the ads now

Hello Fresh: we're sooo busy we can't possibly be expected to cook

Estrid razor: you wouldn't believe how hairy pregnancy made me oh my wooord

Missoma: what a lovely push present this would be

Wild deodorant: we all know mothers have no time to shower amirite *giggle*

Feel free to add what I missed

Ahhhh our most beloved Virgo. If she would have only followed her virgo traits and be hyper organised. She could have easily pre-written 1 monthly blog post, scheduled one weekly Instagram photo (an orange autumnal grwm, favourite autumn chunky knits, autumn tbr, pumpkin something recipe ….) or even pre-film the above as 1 short (10-15min) monthly video. She could have started this after finding out she is pregnant and never touch her phone after birth. That’s around 6 months to prepare this. She could have also clued her audience in for how long she will be gone. Even just saying something like: definitely the next three months but maybe even 6 or eight and then just give a quick notice when you extend.
I am all for taking time off, but as her pregnancy seemed to go very normal (no major health problems or concerns) I really don’t get the laziness. Or maybe I do, if I could do nothing and be utterly confusing, half arsed and unreliable while still getting paid tit tons of money I would maybe do the same?
At least she is actually pretty much off the internet and not pimping out her baby for #ad/spon/gifted. If she decides not to make Ralph into content that’s cool but in that case keeping up child free content over the months would have been a smart idea?

I don’t understand why she can’t post AT all? Instagram isn’t my job so maybe I just don’t get it but I know many people, (myself included) who post multiple times a week on stories? Her and Lily try to be relatable by treating their “jobs” like traditional 9-5s by talking about “mag leave” and “annual leave” and “work days” but that’s not what it is though? And not everyone has a traditional 9-5? Some people work evenings, some people don’t take more than a few weeks “mat leave”. They’re self employed? Isn’t the best and appealing part of being self employed and that too in content creation that you can dictate EVERYTHING you do? Like even some self employed people are restricted to certain timings or seasons but they can do whatever they want whenever they want!

I think she doesn’t want to post so you don’t have to deal with responses. When Instagram is part of your job it would be like seeing emails come in on your work phone on Sunday.

I think she’ll be fine.

Perhaps they are claiming maternity allowance from the government and therefore not actually allowed to work 🤷‍♀️

I've always wondered how this works with "influencers" - do we think they are claiming MA as self-employed people?

I feel like if they were, there would be lots of people contacting DWP to tell them that X Content Creator was just on Instagram 😂

I doubt they’d bother tbh? Maternity Allowance is an absolute pittance, just like SMP - she’d probably exceed this in a single swipe up. No sense in restricting yourself from work when it’s so easy to make zero-effort income.

But she’s entitled to it! Even if she could make more money, I don’t see why they’d say no to it? They’re not that sort of people 😂

Anna doesn't post unless it is an ad or fishing for freebies.

This I think is the reason she might struggle when she comes back compared to others. She’s never been big on Instagram at showing snippets of her day - her content on there is mostly ads or linking to a blog post / video.

When other influencers have taken time off from their main source of income (blogs / YouTube / paid Instagram ads) they’ve kept their audience engaged with showing a bit of content here and there on their Instagram.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Anna does start to return to the internet, and whether she does start to show more relaxed content on Instagram, or if she still keeps her audience at arms length as she’s done in the past.

This is one of the most frustrating things about Anna. She wants all the perks of being self-employed and having flexible hours but also wants to have the benefits of a regular 9-to-5 job. You cannot have both! When they were in the middle of the renovation, she didn't create any content because the workers were making too much noise during the day but she did not want to work in the evenings or during weekends. It should be easy for her to tailor her schedule accordingly, the organisational guru that she is.

I understand that Anna is recovering from pregnancy and giving birth and newborns can be extremely dependent on the mother. But what is Mark doing all day? They could easily have him answer the Q&A and consult Anna when she's breastfeeding or taking care of the baby.

I think it’s actually good that they are mostly off the internet (not posting themselves, they probably still read). Much better than announcing parental leave and then being online almost daily. And than whining how stressful everything is yada yada. But I definitely cannot fault them for following through (apart from that Q&A fail). And we definitely don’t want Mark to get invested even more do we? I can absolutely live with them not appearing in my timeline. And what would she post? AnnaEdit is her business, so whatever she posts there counts into it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they spam friends and family with a photo cloud/WhatsApp group or private handle.

Assuming she’s paid her National Insurance contributions, she’d get the maximum £151.97 a week.

As social media is her primary job, Anna would only be allowed to work on the 10 ‘Keep in Touch’ days - any more and she would lose the right to MA. KIT days are also taken in whole days, even if the work she did only took a couple of hours.

With 10 days she could easily record a couple of videos a day and take photos to post, then get Mark to edit and post videos. But maybe she’s enjoying the time with the baby (and the cynical side of me thinks she’s never done that much work in a day pre-baby)

I think Anna might struggle with productivity when she makes her return. Clearly, her work ethic, such as it was, suffered as soon as she moved into the mouldy mansion, and it fell off a cliff completely when she was pregnant. Her output during pregnancy was so sloppy and half-assed and I really don't see a way back to the Anna she was a couple of years ago. I can actually see her leaving YouTube in the not too distant future and just churning out ads on IG alá Tanya Burr and Niomi Smart. If she is to continue with YouTube, then I think the best thing for us all is if she hires a professional photographer and Mark takes a step back from her channel to look after baby Ralph while she works.

I'd love to know the real reason for the Q&A that never happened. The fact that Anna has had four days to put a Q&A together and it still hasn't happened doesn't exactly bode well for her content moving forward.

I also think the fact that she now seems to want privacy might impact on her YouTube channel going forward. For someone who talked about crying after sex and was happy to show off her sloppy crotch, to then be uncomfortable with doing a nursery tour, makes me think that she doesn't really want to feature her baby on her channel at all. This is a good thing, in my opinion, especially when you consider that Jim Chapman has his baby featuring in ads at only three weeks old!

@jaymie I don't miss her at all. I found Anna insufferable throughout her pregnancy and I can only imagine she'll be just as annoying when she returns. She was a 'smug pregnant' and she'll be a 'smug mum.' Also, I'm just not sure I can sit through her videos anymore. I pretty much stopped watching her during that awful daily cash grab.
Oh I don’t understand that picture of her showing her baby but ‘I am going to cover his eyes’ with caption. Maybe just use another background picture. Influencers

Oh god, there’ll be endless diatribes that start ‘as a mother ...’, won’t there?
