It’s just short sighted to not think about the open singles draw and her fragile body as by then multiple seeded players in her section have withdrawn. I’m sure if she told Andy in the scenario she’s ends up going far in singles and may then withdraw from doubles, Andy would understand and weigh his options. Didn’t she also say in interview that playing with Andy is once in a lifetime thing and bigger than tennis? Action speaks louder than words.

Maybe she did tell him that. Why would she risk more damage to her wrist? Andy himself has said that if he hadn’t have practiced every single day even with injuries then maybe he wouldn’t have had so many serious injuries. I’m sure he probably advised her not to risk it.

Boris is stirring the pot now!!!

I can see both sides - just such a shame it was going to be Andy’s last match

If I was Boris, I’d maybe think twice about stirring up tit, given that he’s fair game for a bit of criticism himself as far as ethics are concerned 😉

Ah, but here we have a young woman having the temerity to a) be publicly successful and b) prioritise her own career over a man’s career - colour me shocked that she’s getting every shade of tit flung at her. 🙄

Again, I think Boris is saying ask Andy or Judy to post something in defence of Emma seeing as she’s getting so much tit.

I really don’t think Emma cares what people think of her and she’s been posting about the football! But yes, disgusting that she is getting so much hate. Shame on Andy not posting anything in her defence.

Everyone knows that singles takes priority. If Andy had been in the same situation, he'd have prioritised singles.

Of course he would. He rarely played doubles as he always concentrated on singles. Plus singles pays more in prize money so no wonder players pull out of doubles when they’re doing well in singles and can earn a lot more money.

£4,250 or £226,000. I know which one I would prioritise?

Jamie Murray was asked the other day if he is also thinking of retiring and he said no as he’s still healthy but also that he hasn’t earned as much as Andy and so he needs to carry on playing as that’s his ‘job’.

Yes, he absolutely would have done. Anyone would.

ER has had years of being criticised for ‘not being as good as she thinks she is’, ‘a flash in the pan’, etc etc. Undergoes multiple surgeries, comes back playing really well, is more successful than she has been in years, takes protective action to try to remain injury free - but it’s still not good enough because she hasn’t selflessly prioritised someone else’s final hurrah (someone who is currently struggling with injury themselves, and who she’d therefore have to compensate for, to some extent). 🙄

What’s supposed to be wrong with Djokovic’s knee as it doesn’t seem to be affecting him at all?!

Also when did the umpires start using the players full name as I thought they just used to say their surnames?

Who really knows. The man hasn’t won a tournament yet this year and I think that was getting to him. I wouldn’t put it past him to somehow exaggerate the extent of his injury and making people think he’s out for Wimbledon. Only to come back and actually win the thing, mark my words 🙄 and if he doesn’t win he can always blame it on the mystery injury

He had surgery on it a few weeks ago. Only thing worse than Novak winning it is Zverev who i think has a real chance this year

Isn’t this your own speculation just like how you were so sure Monday was the day Murray asked Raducanu team when it was actually Tuesday night

🙄

I never said I was SO sure but what difference does it make? He still asked her after she had only played one match in singles so I doubt she expected to get far. You stick to your view and I’ll stick to mine.

It's not Monday. Murray asked Raducanu on Tuesday night, he texted her and she said yes. This information is widely available in the news.

Also, seeing as you like to be pedantic..he didn’t text or ask Emma. He text her Coach and asked him. He told the story in his press conference.

The rain would also have contributed to Emma’s decision. Because of all the backlog she would have to be playing matches on the same day.

At the end of the day Emma owes Andy nothing. It’s a shame he doesn’t get to play mixed but obviously her priority if her singles career, not playing a few games with Andy. He would have done exactly the same thing in her position. Most players would have.

I don’t understand why people are so desperate to see him play in the mixed anyway. His recent matches have been quite uncomfortable to watch as he’s clearly struggling physically and isn’t producing the tennis he used to play. And I say that as a huge fan; he’s one of my top three favourite players of all time.
He wasn’t going to step on court with ER and magically become the roaring lion he used to be. I’d rather not watch him play at all than sit through another early stage loss that I have to watch like this: 🫣
