Looking at the preview for pt2…there is Leah on the couch with Amber sobbing her ‘poor me’ whatever. Duty of care for Leah I think has failed there from Amber. I notice as well she is not sat next to her mother, Gary is in the middle. I suspect she has been allowed/agreed to go on the show because she has been taught pretty well by Gary and Kristina how to react gracefully to Amber’s behaviour. Also watching earlier reruns, where Amber disappears for months at a time due to depression…yet during that time is able to find a new partner and is all excited about a new pregnancy. Leah at age 8 was picking up on the fact that she is too depressed to see her child but not to find a new man. Then there is Gary basically saying he doesn’t have the option of taking a break from parenting not matter what his health status, and having to hand-hold Amber when she is on her own and support her to have a relationship with Leah. Which I totally think is true. The amount of times Gary/Kristina have made efforts to invite her over, gone with her to her house when there are problems etc and let it go every time she blows up and insults them publicly is insane. She doesn’t seem to recognise their patience and how due to her absences they could have gone to court for no contact at all if they thought it best for Leah. They even encouraged Leah in the last couple years to have contact with Amber even when Leah didn’t want it, by inviting Amber over for dinner etc. I think Leah has been coached by Gary/Kristina to just act with compassion towards Amber…but not necessarily think of her has a mother figure as she isn’t capable of being one.

Cheyenne and family. The more I watch them the more I think they are just very media trained, her and Cory in particular, extending to the rest of them. The TM cameras aren’t there 24/7, aren’t seeing every text message. I think they are basically a ‘brand’. They present themselves as the perfect co-parents, adding in some of their personal issues when it suits them to have it make a storyline. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone in that family have a hair out of place, or their homes have a pile of dirty dishes etc, they present for the camera all the time. They are more tv personalities than real-life. If they don’t want us to know something they will be good at hiding it. The car ‘accident’/shooting was on the news, they have included it because they can’t ignore it. I don’t think they wanted to.

Yes Amber sobbing while Leah calmly deals with the situation. I know Kristina has been amazing with Leah and a mother figure but she isn’t her mother and it must be difficult for her to have that feeling of unconditional attachment to Amber, like a dead weight around her neck.

Definitely, I couldn’t believe when she was with Matt she was out and about all over but kept missing time with Leah cos of anxiety. I could understand if she was glued to the couch as normal but she was basically living her life and making excuses not to see Leah. Amber does have her issues but I think she picks and chooses what affects her and when

The TM franchise does have some questionable values. They claim via the Dr Drew segments that they are aiming to reduce teen pregnancies…yet for the most part they are showing that these girls who become teen moms are making $1m’s out of it.

In an earlier series when Ryan first went to rehab, Mackenzie stated that his drug habit was $10,000 per week. Yet she apparently was acting as if she was barely aware he had an addiction..even though it was obvious on camera. So where did he get that money? He hasn’t worked, maybe also any appearance fees due to his parents are diverted directly to him as well as his own.

Then there is Leah Messer, she had a drug issue and I remember her saying in an interview somewhere that she was disappointed that she was was just filmed in that state and the lack of duty of care from the crew.

So…is it wrong? When it’s obvious or strongly suspected that a cast member has a drug issue, out of duty of care surely they shouldn’t be providing them with the funds to continue that dangerous habit? A solution would be to request basic drug testing (of all cast members to make it fair) at the start and middle of the filming season. Not necessarily to stop filming with the individuals if they want to continue…but to stop paying them large sums if it’s funding a dangerous addiction.

I also wonder why Jen and Larry when they knew but were unable to confront Ryan about drugs (they said he would just leave and not speak to them when they tried to raise it)…continued to film…they surely were helping him to stay on the show and keep the income. Maybe they thought taking the income away would make things worse, or that it could prevent them having a relationship with Bentley if they weren’t also supporting Maci’s tv job as well keeping her co-parenting with the grandparents storyline going and the pressure on her to involve them.

surely mtv could include a clause that if the return positive drug tests the contract could be voided or they could sue the cast member for damages as they are not fit to film/could potentially endanger crew etc?

but i think mtv are probably quite loose with the drug use it as it will bring in 'content' and they will then claim they are 'raising awareness about substance abuse' etc
 
I’ve always said that MTV are disgusting for the way they gain content. In just the tm franchise they have stood back on many occasions and filmed DV, drug abuse and other not so serious encounters and you just know the producers are rubbing their hands together when they catch something juicy. As soon as Farrah was fired and MTV started cracking down (because morally they had to) was when the series became ridiculously edited for me. MTV do the same with every series they have filmed with all their TV shows. Yes I watch and continue to watch however, they did have a duty of care for those girls and they failed them many times, all for the sake of entertainment, hiding behind “clauses” in the contract. Doesn’t make sense that they would put their own terms into a contract they put together which prevents them intervening when required

Same with Ashley. I know they have to have make up for the tv and obviously the lights are on but both looked different. Jade has heavy make up for such a young gal. But up to them. I find think either of Chey or Ashley have gone down Leahs route.

Seen another clip of bootcamp wow I can’t believe how Amber acts although yet another show to create drama. I kind of know Andrew was production crew but never fully who for, and it was bootcamp. Can’t tell me he didn’t know exactly what she was like even if he claimed to never watch tm, she was literally flipping her lid daily it seems, on this show

I always wanted to watch this show but can never find the seasons I wanna see anywhere in the uk. I wanted to watch the one with kail and Javi years ago 😂
