I’ve always thought this was a lyric she had in her locker since Rep, she’s said before that she writes down little sayings/lyrics when they come to her to then use at a later date. Evermore was before the re-releases started so maybe she hadn’t thought about releasing vault tracks yet and really wanted to use those lyrics somewhere. Would have fit so much more on Midnights, on something like Bejewelled if she’d had the patience to wait. It certainly doesn’t fit the Evermore vibe
 
I have a bejewelled question… when she says “and when I meet the band, they ask do you have a man? I can still say I don’t remember”

Do you interpret it as “I completely forgot if I have a boyfriend or not”
Or
“I can still say I don’t, ….. Remember?” As in she told them previously that she’s single and she’s reminding them…

And yes, totally agree that the 90s trend line ruins Willow. She can do much better than that!!

I took it as the last time she saw them she said she didn’t remember so she can “still” say. It highlighted to be how back and forward that particular relationship was supposed to be.

I’ll also die on the hill that The Band is The 1975 😂

For as great of a lyricist as she is she does have some lines that are absolutely jarring. I guess with a catalogue as large as she has it’s bound to happen but ugh. I can’t forgive the “trust him like a brother” line from Call it What You Want. It makes me cringe every single time and I genuinely love the rest of that song.

its “I want to wear his initial on a chain around my neck.” for me. It gives me the ick and I’m not sure why.

I interpreted it as a threat to her other half. Reminding him she's still desirable and if the guy from the band (always in my head Matty) ask does she have a man and she's not happy with how she's been treated she can always tell him she doesn't and act like she's a free agent.

Petty trying to make your partner jealous stuff.

Have you looked on Etsy? May be more expensive but better quality so I guess it depends on the budget. I just find with shein you get so many rubbish things for each good thing it doesn’t feel like a saving to me
