Thank you to the posters who recommended the Murdoch documentary. I've just finished watching it ... what an interesting and complicated network that all is.
Despite not wishing to continue watching Succession (because I didn't enjoy it), I do recognise a lot of parallels between the show and their alleged inspiration.
I find James quite interesting ... he's very black sheep-ish and doesn't come across as terribly bright.
Elisabeth looks all shiny and proper on the outside, but her most well-known daughter couldn't be more different:
I have to wonder whether Sarah, Lachlan's wife, ever feels trapped. For a while (early 2000s), she had a couple of TV hosting gigs, one of which was co-anchor on a morning news show for a temporary slot. She was excellent at it - a real natural and very well liked by everyone, despite landing a plum role with no experience or training, but chose to leave - I think, because her husband didn't want her working. It was temporary, but she was responsible for increased ratings and everyone loved her so much that I'm sure they would've moved the earth to keep her on. She also hosted Australia's Next Top Model for a while but chose to leave that gig.
I have always found Wendi (Deng) to be a cold fish ... the stuff about what she wrote in her diary re. Tony Blair was stomach-churning.
