The way some of the pros have responded in interviews shows it's possible to give a diplomatic answer (and are probably under strict instructions not to say anything else) and yet Shirley is out here with her Team Gio placard. Baffling.

Like, I don't think any PR would be advising her to blather on about Gio in interviews right now, whatever her opinion on him is. Simply because no one seems to know how this will all turn out
 
She is very unprofessional as the head judge in many ways, and this compounds it, imo. Gio always knew how to charm her and that's all she cares about.
She should know which side her bread is buttered at this stage with the payment she gets for her role in Strictly, and have a noncommittal answer ready. Pity she wouldn't get the boot.

It will be interesting to see if the judges have changed their approach this time around, especially her.
Craig is usually fairly true to himself. Motsi was noticeably better and more focused last year, I thought.
And all I ask of Anton is that he uses his words. No more yay and hey and I threw [former partner] around the floor over there.
 
Also find it interesting about the palace story - could be made up or perhaps it is true Queen Cami decided that due to her charity work with domestic abuse charities and the claims about G, that best not for Strictly to perform in the palace. Shirls latest interview isn’t going to help. I don’t think it ought to be seen as acceptable in any industry to say cruel things and especially in a non a friendly manner and Shirls wonders why there are trolls on social media.
 
No doubt Shirley will dine out on the victim narrative for decades if the BBC finally grew the balls to replace her. Rather like a certain Miss Arlene Phillips, again slagging off Strictly yesterday (move on love, it’s been 15 years!). Why do those two think they can be as rude as they want but woe betide anyone who criticises them?
 
Motsi was a revelation as a judge last year which is absolutely mad since she's been on the show since 2019! Anton was everything you wanted in a judge during his first year then it all quickly went to tit.

I think it started with his feedback for Hamza's Salsa - which at the time was funny as it was spontaneous and fitted the unexpected nature of the moment. Then that just seemed become his judging persona and it's been just awkward and unfunny ever since.

I do think a lot of it is production influence and being encouraged to ham up to a particular persona.
 
Reading the comments on Vito’s/Ellie’s latest insta post if Vito goes back to Italy alone or takes someone other than Ellie, there are going to be a fair few disappointed fans.

I guess it proves there is no ban on talking about FR-gate as Shir/tley just opens her mouth and yaps on about what a gent he is at the drop of a hat. Meanwhile, Gorka, Karen and Michelle gave diplomatic masterclasses in the 'it's always sad when someone leaves. I haven't spoken to him as my phone accidentally deleted all my contacts' vein.
 
The thing is the show is now so huge that it can't go back to the days of showing Karen and Mark arguing. It needs to put on this happy family face ALL THE TIME

And that means that everyone has to fit in or they're no use to the show. Which is why they've now got great dancers who have zero personality. It's all very "nice" just not every interesting

It's a bit like modern day snooker. The technique of the playing is brilliant but you'd love an Alex Higgins meltdown or a Jimmy White clearance.

I just hope that they've got celebrities this year that I know and am invested in. Or else strictly will go the way for x factor for me - 2hr show watched in 15 minutes.

And I'm still quietly seething that I can't get decent tickets for the legends show.
 
I don’t get why it is seen as a negative trait if people are happy/nice all the time - if it is genuine then surely that’s a positive trait in someone. I would rather see the likes of Carlos, Vito and Nikita than say Brendan and James. I personally don’t think the current pros have zero personality - don’t think you could ever say - Carlos, Katya and Johannes have zero personality.

My main feeling is that nobody is happy/nice all the time - see Karen/Mark. It's not realistic to pretend that people are happy all the time.

It's a generational thing - I grew up feeling unhappy, bored, cheesed off - its normal life - not depression. There's a distinct difference between feeling down and being depressed. Sometimes the lines are blurred these days.

I thought Johannes was having a limited role due to his kinky boots commitments?

I would love Katya and Lauren to get 'ringers' but there seems to be a dearth of male ringers. Apart from Danny Mac and Layton. And they paired Layton with a man!!!

I think we have some current pros who have loads of personality, they just aren’t cunts with it. I too would prefer to see the likes of Carlos goofing around than someone like Brendan throwing a tantrum. I’ve never considered Govinnie the bellendo as being a pro with personality. Arrogance and smug superficial charm maybe but nothing I’d be interested in watching.

They paired Layton with a man as he requested a same sex partner. Maybe Lauren will be paired with a female ringer?
