Until the Gio partner stuff is sorted I don’t think Strictly will win awards unless voted by the public at the moment there is a little toxic shadow over it. Im guessing the RTS aren’t public voted awards?

Michelle has a bit more going for her than Cameron (better dancer and more telegenic) but she does come off quite detached and I wonder if that's part of the problem, they might struggle finding a partner for her. Nadiya has a similar issue (in hindsight, none of last year's men were a good match for her) and some of the other pros in past who were on the reserved side.

That’s what makes me think they’ll keep her for another year. No way they’d drop her but she’d still do the pro tour right?

Strictly won a judge’s special award in 2022 , not sure if they’ve won any other time. I looked it up as I thought it was around this time of year. It’s jury voted, as is Bafta, which strictly misses out on sometimes too. NTAs is public voted.

The cast can change, and has done a few times. Remember Cameron was a no show and was replaced by Jake and Arduino.

Is there a toxic shadow over it though? A few dodgy clickbait articles are irrelevant really and don’t impact the show. As for the Gio thing most of the die hard strictly viewers are huge fans of his and are defending him so I don’t think it’s as big a deal as some people think. With that being said though I do wish he would leave.

Yeah, I think for the most part this kind of stuff washes over the casual Strictly viewer. By the time the next series rolls around most people won’t remember much at all about what happened a year ago 🤷‍♀️

agreed: i think your average strictly viewer just doesn’t care. my mum is a HUGE strictly fan but the pros just cease to exist for her between series 🤣 not to say that there aren’t hardcore fans who do care but i can’t see it’s going to have any impact on the show itself or any awards it may or may not win.

My family are the same 🤣. Most strictly fans watch once a week for 13 weeks and then forget about it. Remember all the drama last year after the final about Gorka being pissed off, Gorka leaving, Gio and Jowita dating. It had all been forgotten by September 🤣🤣🤣
 
Has anyone got any predictions/wants for this years line up? Personally I'd love a slightly older singer/performer like Beverly Knight (though I'm unsure how loved she is on here) :ROFLMAO:

My dream would be Jamie Dornan. I don’t think he can dance but he makes me laugh, so I think he would be a good sport. Also Diane Morgan. I reckon within the next couple of years, Jamie Oliver’s friend Jimmy thingybob will show up.
 
Top of my wishlist would be a couple serious ringers (Layton/Danny/Ashley level), and some good looking men. The show seems averse to casting male eye candy nowadays, I don't know why. I suppose they had Nigel last year but he's 50 years old. The hot guys in their 20s/30s seem to be totally missing unless you count the pros!

Hoping they get 2 Olympians again like in 2012/16. Thinking a male gymnast (is it finally the year of Whitlock?) and a female from athletics or something like that. Maybe also a footballer as it's Euros year.

I'd like a couple of singers this year, maybe an S Club 7 star off the back of the reunion tour? Andrew Ridgeley from Wham! was also heavily rumoured last year and said he wants to take part, would be a good get. Or maybe a younger pop star à la Fleur East, Alexandra Burke, HRVY etc.

Personally fancy the idea of a couple more out of the box celebs. Still manifesting Vito with a celebrity chef.

Otherwise, expecting the usual fare of TV presenters/radio DJs/CBBC stars/soap stars etc. Hoping that Angela Rippon's success means that they can keep casting people 65+ in future, I like having a bit of age diversity in the roster.

Amanda & Bobby for me were the two casting misses last year - I'd avoid casting the serious actor/actress type altogether as they always seem stuck-up and/or difficult, whilst I think they need to be careful with "nepo-baby" celebs next time. Tilly Ramsay was fine as she comes from an unproblematic background and seemed normal herself, but dipping into the kinda trashy Brazier/Goody clan seemed out of character for SCD.

max whitlock has LONG been on my list. i love gymnasts on this show in general but i really think he would be a great contestant (i can picture him and jowita being absolute fire together).

i thought jamie borthwick (from ee) came across really well on the christmas special and was a great and chill partner for nancy so i would be down for him to do a full series, though i know they tend to leave it a year or so before a contestant does a special and then the main show.
 
Max Whitlock is a great shout I think he’d be fab! Just think of the lifts he could do with Jowita (as LaBlonde said). I agree about the nepo baby thing, I hope to god these Brooklyn Beckham rumours aren’t true, although he may finally find a talent? I have a feeling Barney Walsh could do it though, a less problematic nepo baby than Bobby but still probably very annoying
